Hearing this today, and resonating with it in my own context as a woman of color with an unconventional career path. I am sick of hearing people say no--l am also ready opportunity and right to fail.
@AlenciaJohnson
When you're one of the first black, female, (basically, nonwhite male) to do something, suddenly your qualifications and merits are under the microscope.
It's not good enough to be good enough, you have to be one of the best.

I think a lot about John Thompson. I was a kid when he won the National Championship. I remember him speaking out about academic standards with athletes. He opened up a whole different perspective to a kid who never once thought about it.
“White supremacy in this country is a pyramid scheme. It’s the idea that if you play along, you will have more than Black people and women, but often it doesn’t work out that way."

on why some white men turn to violence and hate.

What he is saying is exactly why any black woman nominated to the court by Biden will be extremely qualified. She has had to prove herself again and again to get where she is in her career because of her skin color and be perfect.
@AlenciaJohnson
Qualified minority talent?
Maybe White decision makers:
Confine searches to insular professional and social networks;
Aren't looking hard enough or don't want to find it;
Have stuck many people of color in roles that lack a direct connection to profits.
@AlenciaJohnson
“I’m sick of us having to be perfect to get the job” there’s never been a more perfect or more powerful statement than this! It’s true on Damn near every level and profession as well! And even when your background is “perfect” they still don’t believe you deserve to be there!

JUSTICE
Page 468:
These laws opened up opportunities for limited numbers of Black Americans while largely leaving centuries of meticulously orchestrated inequities soundly in place, but now with the sheen of color-blind magnanimity.
@AlenciaJohnson
Striving for equality means equal opportunities. Are you really going to advocate to ignore POC and other discriminated classes? You are no better than the oppressors.

Lets think for a second...
If I compare Justice Barrett's qualifications/accomplishments to Justice Jackson's qualifications, would they even be close? Yet there are several Right Wing pundits/"news" media suggesting these ladies may not be the most qualified candidates.🤔
