Last August, AA Paratrooper Specialist Chris Harris was killed in Afghanistan, leaving his pregnant wife. Last week, his 2-month old daughter, Christian, met Daddy's fellow Paratroopers. Today she represents all the bereaved children of this war forced to grow up w/o a parent.

A legend is gone. Clarence Beavers, last member of the Triple Nickels, the all-black Paratrooper unit integrated into the 82nd in 1947, died at 96. Smoke jumpers during WWII, then first black members of 82nd Airborne, Triple Nickels had a role in the American civil rights.

An annual tradition of D-Day commemorations is the Airborne jump at LaFiere. Bad weather prevented static line jumps from C-130s, but civilians from the Liberty Jump Team and freefall jumpers were able jump. Following the jumps, 82nd ABN DIV participated in a ceremony.

3/20: After D Day, Tom Hanks is tasked to lead a group of men from 2nd RGR Battalion to rescue PVT Ryan, a 101st ABN Paratrooper played by Matt Damon. Ryan's 3 brothers were killed in action & GEN Marshall directs him to be returned to his Family. Ryan does not want to leave.
