Another historic first! LCA NP-2 traps aboard @indiannavy 's INS Vikrant, the first aircraft to be recovered by the indigenous aircraft carrier as part of its post-commissioning workup. The jet was flown by Capt Shivnath 'DAX' Dahiya, CO of the Naval Flight Test Sqn (INAS 552).

Kargil Vijay Diwas – jets like these and some incredible airmanship rained unrelenting punishment from above. "Badalon se qayamat baras rahi hai..." Radio intercepts revealed how utterly demoralised the Pakistani forces were, their entrenchments rendered useless.

27 May 99 — @IAF_MCC lost two jets over Muntho Dhalo. The first pilot, Flt Lt Nachiketa, was taken PoW. The second, Sqn Ldr Ahuja, was killed on the ground after ejection. His then-CO, now Chief of Air Staff, flew a missing man today, 20 yrs later, to honour his fallen comrade.

This horseshit needs to end. Mi-17V-5s have had five prior accidents. Two were hard landings with no fatals. Of the fatal mishaps, one was a parachute candling into tail rotor, and one a flood relief sortie in the worst possible conditions. Last was the Feb 2019 frat.

Today was one of, if not the absolute longest non-stop @IAF_MCC @LockheedMartin C-130J flights - Srinagar to Kanyakumari. Pic one over Srinagar, second over Kanyakumari, third at Trivandrum. They carried 3 tonnes of Covid relief material, covering 5004 km, 10h 10m flight time.

Interestingly the IAF Chief confirms that the new Rafales have fired weapons since their arrival in India, in addition to working up with the other aircraft and systems of the IAF in-country. “Ready to go” as of today.
