for nondisabled pals DID YOU KNOW that a fairly common feature of various flavours of disability & chronic illness is the physiological inability to handle well a) heat changes b) heat regulation c) extremes of heat so do pls check in on ur people who may be struggling w this
@SFdirewolf
thanks so much Alice, you too! Hey, slightly forward q so feel free to not answer but am I right in thinking that anyone who will also need breathing support equipment might be more impacted esp in high humidity?
@senoraspanishOH
@SFdirewolf
depends on the specifics? Some of us have things like dysautonomia or autonomic dysfunction where inability to regulate temp is just one among many autonomic regulation dysfunctions
@pancake_puns
Of course, lovely. Haven’t taught in the heat while sick for a long time but suspect you need to go really, really slow today, consider trying to get home early before the afternoon heat kicks in, if not today then maybe if working tmrw/thurs
@zaranosaur
Yep. I'm chronically ill, heat exhaustion is a death sentence for me and guess what my entry company did, shut off my power with no notice till I pay what they want. Or I can just die.
@zaranosaur
as well as having issues with regulating heat, I also end up with being hyper sensitive due to sensory processing issues so a light touch from someone is almost painful and often times moving ends up hurting too. It's a hot, hellish nightmare...
@zaranosaur
Suffering from this as we speak. It's making me want my mum and as a 45 year old with a less than fantastic relationship with her mum it shows me how bad I'm doing
