2,000 men seek psychosocial counselling over financial issues

The Auditor General’s report has revealed that $30 million meant for the commencement of construction of the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway under the Patriotic Front (PF) administration has not been accounted for.
Over 16,000 mental illnesses were attended to at Chainama Hills Hospital last year with alcohol-related cases topping the list at 56% out of the number.
Alcohol abuse, depression and marijuana are the major reasons for mental illness admissions at the hospital.
CEC posts 171% profit
Copperbelt Energy Corporation has recorded an increase in profit by 171%, from $50.8m in 2022 to $137.6m in 2023.
According to CEC’s latest financial report, the energy firm also recorded a 2% increase in revenue from $374.4m in 2022 to $382.3m in 2023.
Umoyo sets up K7.5m plant in South MFEZ
Umoyo Natural Health has set up a K7.5 million manufacturing plant in the Lusaka South Multi- Facility Economic Zone (LS – MFEZ) in its effort to expand its product line. The manufacturing plant will be commissioned in May this year.

Exports surpass imports
Zambia recorded a trade surplus valued at K700m in Dec 2023, from a deficit of K600m in Nov 2023. According to ZamStats exports mainly comprising domestically produced goods increased by 14.6% to K 21.1bn in Dec 2023, up from K18.4bn in Nov 2023.
New railway coming
