Just remember that someone out there is looking to hire someone just like you. With your skills and your ability to grow within the company.
Yes you'll face rejection but soon enough you'll find somewhere where you're exactly who they need and want.

Helping a client move hosts which will help save them a few thousand dollars each month.
We did it because I saw their hosting bill was outrageous and I saw an opportunity to help save them money.
I didn't charge them. I did it to build loyalty and trust.
Dealing with bad mental block this week. Struggling to feel productive.
As much as it sucks, it's a good lesson. Sometimes the only way out is through.

Just remember for introductory jobs in tech it's not all about your raw tech skills. The interviewers want to find someone they can imagine being part of their team.
Often the skills come second to being a likeable/good person to work with.

The best is probably vim/nvim just do to it being infinitely customizable and how optimized your workflow can become with vim motions.
However, it's not for everyone and I think VS Code has a strong argument for being the best editor for the non vim dev.
Sometimes you think you write a banger reply or tweet and it flops.
Other times you drop a tweet or reply with no thought and it crushes.
What is this sorcery?!
Get yourself a mentor if you don't have one.
Just got done having a coffee with one of my mentors I have known since college.
They can help recharge your batteries, inspire you, and use their experience to help guide you.
Being a solopreneur means finding better ways to work every day. It's not about huge shifts (which aren't easily maintainable) but tiny tweaks that enhance your output and quality.

Do it all the time for my side projects. Amazing how fast you can scaffold a design/layout using tailwind and there's something fun about building on the fly. I think it makes you consider the UI/UX differently than you would from a pure design-first perspective.
Simplicity always wins.
When we started our business 10 years ago we managed all of our clients tasks an Trello. Life was pretty good.
But then we transitioned to a full blown ticketing system thinking it would help us improve our process.
Then we built our own ticketing

Just saw another indie dev share their journey from zero to a profitable online tool. Key takeaways: start small, stay consistent, and listen to your users. Their success is a reminder that good things take time. Keep pushing forward and refining your ideas.

Anyone know if a good python library that can detect when your eyes are starting into the camera vs when they are not?

Any feedback or thoughts on this format I am trying is appreciated 😊

Jumpstart your week starting today.
- Make a game plan for your week.
- Take care of tasks or chores today that will free up more of your week.
- Make today a great and positive day and carry that with you into your day tomorrow.
Success isn't a straight line.
For every major win, there were countless setbacks.
It's like a roller coaster. You're in for a thrill both enjoyable and terrifying.
But once you reach your destination you'll be smiling from ear to ear.
Starting the day facing a large problem...
However it presents an opportunity for a big win once it's fixed.
- Dont let the difficult days beat you up
- Take wins where you can
- Take breaks when you get frustrated
If you're out here building something you believe in you should be proud.
So many people have ideas of what to build but never take the first step.
The gap being thinking and doing is monumental.
Your reward will come for being a doer.

Yeahhhhhh, at this point I'd just invoice them for the tasks their asking for and if the pay then great or just refer them to someone else and let them know it's the end of your relationship.
I always love a late night coding session BUT...
There is something nice about getting up early and getting all of your daily tasks completed before lunch.
It's so refreshing when you talk to a potential client that you can tell will be a joy to work with.
It gets me excited to watch the relationship blossom.
Small changes can have big results.
I used to lay in bed for 20-30 minutes before getting up. I'd scroll X or Insta and avoid starting my day.
I decided I had to change this bad habit into a good one and now I get up the moment I wake up.

site:
- Changed hosts
- Better caching setup
- Image optimizations
- CDN
- Setup Perfmatters
Went from a 68 pagespeed score to 98.
Of these Perfmatters made the largest impact. Second was the hosting change.

Starting a web development project without a design can feel like cooking a complicated dish without a recipe. Sometimes you nail it, other times you learn what not to do next time.
Usually overly busy days stress me out (and today is no exception) but there is a pleasant side effect that the day doesn't drag on. It's 5 o'clock before you know it.

While I agree a great design can improve conversions it's really one side (or one color) of the Rubik's cube.
Strong copy, increasing traffic, creating content, marketing, etc also contribute to conversion. You first need steady

Specializing in a framework might be the norm, but mastering the fundamentals of coding is the real game-changer that makes you infinitely more adaptable.

Lots of cursing under my breath and things like:
"What is going on?"
"This should be working...!"
"Why can't this just work"
"I hate this #%$!"
And so on 🤣
Just a reminder that the most successful startups solve real problems. Identify a need, provide a solution, and communicate its value clearly. Keep it simple and user-focused. Your goal at the start should be customer satisfaction, not just features.
It can be hard to know when to keep pursuing an idea and when to let it go.
But if you believe in the idea and you've seen it impact the audience your aiming for, you're almost always on the right track.
Take some time today to set some goals for yourself during the week.
- what do you want to deliver?
- what do you want to improve on?
- what gets you ahead of schedule?
- how can you optimize your time?
Plan now and your week will feel more focused and purposeful.
If you are just getting started in web dev, pick something you find enjoyable to learn.
If React frustrates you, try Ruby on Rails or Django. The more you enjoy the fundamental language and stack you code in, the more likely you are to keep bettering your skills.
