Here's a short clip demonstrating the "Travel History" feature of the world map. On the lower left you can navigate to all previously visited lands. E.g. after a multiplayer session with your friend in a different land, you can easily return to your current "questing land".

I added flight masters to every village. Here you can buy flight points, allowing you to travel on an eagle to more distant locations. The further away, the more expensive. #cubeworld

While I want you to find out most things by yourselves, here are some not-so-obvious tips: F1 shows the controls of your character. F2,F3 resize the GUI. In multiplayer, you can fly to your friends for free via the flight master.

The yellow dot on the minimap tells me there's a mighty artifact somewhere in these ruins. Finding these artifacts will be your main objective!

Some more tips: - You can zoom the camera with CTRL+mousewheel - Find enemies/quests of your gear level: white < green < blue < purple < yellow - You can level up by finding artifacts, but you need good gear (weapons, armor) first - Talk to NPCs

Working on a new technique to generate more stuctured environments, allowing me to control how paths, streets, bridges, caves etc. are connected. I will make a new video and blog post once I added more things like buildings, street lights and so on.

For better visualization during development, I added a map (lower right) that shows how NPCs move (red dots). I my test, they start to walk to the street in the center, then following that street. Next step: zombie herds, bandit gangs, adventurers etc. moving across the map.

Testing NPCs traveling along roads. They use map information to navigate through the world (in this case find the closest road), even when they're kilometers away from the player. When the player gets close, they spawn and use the pathfinding algorithm I mentioned before.

I'm trying out Unreal Engine 5 to see if I can use it for Cube World Omega. So far it looks promising. I'm still trying to get the look and feel right. Next I want to add small details (grass, flowers, fences etc.) and finally creatures.

Working on pathfinding. It's based on the A* algorithm. For testing purposes I can mark a destination and the algorithm tries to find the best path. Progress is visualized by small cubes. The yellow cubes mark the current best path.
