I am truly grateful to Tom Cotton for the periodic reminder that two degrees from Harvard are absolutely worthless if you were born a dipshit and revel in cultivated arrogance.
Y’all I have to tell you:
I think we finally found the Radical Left in Arkansas. 😂
Happy to be radicalizing with y’all hillbillyin churchin fishin huntin militaryin family-raisin four-wheelin farmin truck-drivin grandma-huggin cornbread-eatin country-music-twangin lefties.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Joe Biden’s Arkansas votes in 2020 represent more than 90% of the votes Chris Jones needs to win in 2022.
Read it again.
Every race is on the table, y’all.
It’s rare for someone from the national stage to answer the call & show up for Arkansas Democrats, especially when we’re hurting.
Grateful for the opportunity tonight to meet not just a Democratic leader, but a national and global leader in
@GavinNewsom
.
Y’all come back soon.
The Arkansas Senate will now pass — without amendment — a bill they know is deeply flawed. The public had less than 48 hours to provide feedback.
They will defund & ultimately dismantle public schools that serve 95% of us — because that’s what lobbyists & special interests want.
Arkansas Democrats: give EVERY public school teacher a $10,000 raise & get EVERY staff member to $15+ per hour
Arkansas Republicans: only some teachers get real raises; also we’re stealing $400,000,000 for private schools
I’m sorry, this isn’t hard. A lot of eyes are opening.
✅ More House seats challenged than any year since Arkansas Democrats were still in the majority.
✅ Seven Senate races, enough to break the supermajority.
✅ Every U.S. House race challenged by a qualified candidate.
✅ Statewide special election for State Treasurer.
Instant block for any version of “Arkansas deserves Sarah Sanders” or “you get what you voted for.”
Sanders won:
19% of the Arkansas population
24% of our voting age population
32% of our registered voters &
63% of the 50% who showed up
She won an election. Not the state.
While teachers buy supplies out of their own pockets, Arkansans slept in their cars amid record job loss, and our infrastructure endures a critical level of decline, the state stashed away a billion dollars so they could cut rich folks’ taxes this fall.
Read it again.
The May revenue report reflects a $980 million budget surplus, the largest in Arkansas's history. The surplus affirms the wisdom of our belt-tightening decisions and tells us that this fall we can cut our income tax rate again. Our economy is roaring back.
They came to the Capitol from Wynne & Bentonville & Harmony Grove & Norfork & Farmington & Ozark & Fayetteville & Bryant & Cabot & all across Arkansas to speak up for their kids & their profession.
Teachers, y’all. ❤️
Reply with where you’re standing with our public schools. ⤵️
The MAGA supermajority stole funding from the public schools serving 95% of students to funnel it to unaccountable private schools and shady for-profit vendors.
LEARNS is a scam. Same as it was a year ago when they rushed it through with threats and bullying.
I signed Arkansas LEARNS into law just over a year ago.
It is the most transformative education reform in recent Arkansas history. And we’re just getting started.
We shouldn’t give another damn dime of tax cuts to the very rich so long as a single kid in Arkansas is unhoused or hungry or trapped in poverty and I shouldn’t have to explain this to legislators who ran on ‘Christian values.’
#arleg
America: where kids are slaughtered in their schools because our government refuses to do anything about easy access to semi-automatic weapons, but we are damn quick to regulate drag shows, abortion care & library books.
Hearing that turnout is through the roof in Fayetteville and feeling bittersweet to be out of NWA.
Stay in line. Take some water and dress in layers. A lot of folks are counting on us.
Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from exercising your rights. 🗳
Several dimensions to this self-own. The average Arkansan’s car does not have a 26-gallon tank. The average Arkansan is not paying $4.40 for gas. The average Arkansan does not drive a $50K+ SUV.
Of course, Sarah isn’t running for average Arkansans.
In the last week,
@TomCottonAR
has tweeted three times about the balloon, twice about Coca-Cola and Major League Baseball, once about the NBA, and he took a big L on the “drag bill,” which was gutted.
He tweeted zero (0) times about anything productive for Arkansas.
More than fifty (50) come out in Huntsville, Arkansas to walk a mile with Chris Jones — he’s walking a mile in every county, so we showed up in the Ozark Mountains to walk a mile with him.
I know a lot of Republicans who LOVE Arkansas.
I know a lot of Democrats who LOVE Arkansas.
I know a lot of people who wouldn’t call themselves either who just LOVE Arkansas.
Y’all, the people running our state do not love Arkansas. Period.
All the statewide offices.
Half the seats in a state that went 34.8% for Biden.
70% of the 25 biggest cities in Arkansas have a Democratic legislative candidate running. Farmers and tractor dealers and teachers and grandmas are running.
We’re tuckered out and fired up, y’all.
Right now at Little Rock Central High School, students are leading a walkout in response to the SCOTUS
#RoeVWade
draft.
I tell my students all the time — right there in this historic building — to fight for what you believe in. Our representatives should follow their leadership.
If you need an ego boost, just throw on your Chris Jones shirt and head to the Farmers Market because *many* people will shout “I love your Chris Jones shirt!”
@JonesForAR
“We’re fighting to keep our daughter’s Medicaid.”
“This is not the same Arkansas I grew up in.”
“We might have to move.”
“They raised the tuition at our school.”
This is the reality of Republican supermajority rule under Sarah Sanders. Arkansas, you deserve so much better.
This is a photo of a packed house for Chris Jones and our statewide slate of Democrats in Van Buren, Arkansas, where Donald Trump got about 70% of the vote.
There are so many races we can win in Arkansas. But we need folks to roll up their sleeves to help get out the vote.
The last time Arkansas beat Alabama in football was September 23, 2006.
Seven weeks later, Arkansas Democrats reclaimed the Governor’s office in the mid-term elections. 😏
Bleed red, vote blue. 🐗
#WPS
Citizens in Arkansas shouldn’t have to beg for running water while our governor stages a ghoulish publicity stunt in support of drowning immigrants wrapped in razor wire.
There is absolutely no path back to power for Democrats that does not involve repeatedly asking a whole damn lot of your neighbors to come stand in somebody’s yard to hear from people who are working for a better Arkansas.
If the GOP is on TV talking about how Arkansas has so much unused revenue, why was I just taxed almost $2,000 for buying a used car? Why are teachers buying school supplies with their own money?
Cutting taxes for rich people = making life harder for working people. Full stop.
Absolutely infuriating to live in one of the poorest states while the GOP ghouls who’ve run Arkansas for a decade horde a BILLION DOLLAR surplus & do jackshit to improve failing outcomes in health, safety & quality of life.
Life, liberty & happiness — some exclusions may apply.
I don’t know Sarah Sanders. I do know she surrounded herself with bad people, repeatedly lied on national TV, admitted to the FBI that she lied & made fun of Joe Biden’s stutter.
I trust people when they show me who they are. I don’t want someone like that as my governor.
A lot of us
#RadicalLeft
in Arkansas are tuckered out, but if y’all think for a second we’re gonna stop fighting for teachers, standing up for safer communities and better healthcare and the truth and decency offered by
@JonesForAR
and other Democrats?
Well, bless your heart. 😌
I am at Jasper High School, where hundreds of people — an overflow crowd — have turned up for a town hall meeting on the future of the Buffalo National River.
Sarah Sanders, who routinely trashes Arkansas teachers and an imaginary “radical left” that doesn’t exist in our state, just said she’ll “focus on positivity.”
Survey says: she’s lying.
Democrats routinely get 35% of the vote statewide in Arkansas. Right now we have 18% of the seats in the state legislature. The difference between a legislature that is 18% and 35% Democrat is night and day.
To stop the bullshit, we have to reclaim seats? So how… 🧵
For anyone considering the origin of their vodka right now, there’s a fantastic Black-owned business in Helena, Arkansas called Delta Dirt Distillery that makes their juice from sweet potatoes and corn. 🍠
Good morning to every public school teacher and staff member in Arkansas, each of whom deserves a hell of a lot more out of their state government than what they have right now.
The governor needs to immediately disclose who paid for her sideline Super Bowl trip and whether any state dollars were used to give her another luxury vacation.
It’s disgusting how bad at this she is. Corruption, coverups, and cowardice stain the entire state government.
This is Arkansas after a decade of GOP majorities and GOP governors for 19 of the last 26 years. Now they want four more under another Trump Republican.
The highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation, a growing mental health epidemic, obesity, etc. Arkansas children suffer more than almost any in the country, per new report. via
@arktimes
I voted for Chris Jones for Governor.
No doubts, no “lesser of two evils,” no second-guessing about viability. Just voted for a good, honest person I have come to know and respect. Hearing from a lot of Arkansans who don’t share all my views they did too.
One more week.
Just saw a video of 100+ gathered on the courthouse square in Saline County, Arkansas to protest for reproductive justice.
When they’re chanting “my body, my choice” from the deep ‘red’ seat of my home county…something very big has awakened.
Standing with you and for you. ✊🏼
I’m an eighth-generation Arkansan, born into a two-bedroom trailer where six of us lived until a VA loan, a union firefighting job & a teacher’s salary let my parents build their dream home. Everything I am is because of them.
I’m with the teachers til the very end.
Victory for democracy!
The Arkansas State Supreme Court sides with the people over the Arkansas GOP, and keeps adult-use marijuana on the ballot. This measure is polling very well and shows how out of step with voters the GOP is at every level.
We are about to make our toughest drive home. There’s a lot of heaviness around, but please spare a thought or prayer for us as Atticus and I write the last few sentences of our story together.
First eight months of the Sarah Sanders Swamp:
—ban books they don’t like 📚
—fire teachers without cause 👩🏫
—voucher scam too extreme for TX 💵
—tax cuts for the rich 🤑
—build more prisons 🗑️
—shutter government transparency 😶🌫️
—free plane rides for staff and family ✈️
Here are some things I hear frequently while traveling around Arkansas, all of which inform my politics:
--the internet here is really bad for how expensive it is
--we have to drive too far to go to the doctor
--they closed up the [school, Head Start, grocery store, etc.]
--they
I’d like to welcome all the new members of the “radical left” as it will be described later this week:
—the Arkansas TEA party
—the Pulaski County Republican Party
—the Saline County Republican Party
—Americans for Prosperity
—somehow the ghost of Ronald Reagan
Sarah’s on the TV again talking about the radical left so I will remind you the most extreme left you should watch out for in Arkansas is this one curve on Highway 270 just outside Mount Ida before you cross the Ouachita River.
Disagree with Sarah and you’re “the left.”
Stand up for public schools and you’re “the left.”
Oppose voucher cash-grabs for private schools and you’re “the left.”
I remember when being a conservative used to mean something. Now it’s a bully’s Mad Libs version of governing.
The era of trapping kids in failing schools and sentencing them to a lifetime of poverty is coming to an end in Arkansas.
Every kid — regardless of race, income or zip code — will have access to a quality education whether the left likes it or not.
I watched Dad work through injuries & give so much to the fire service. Mom spent three decades teaching ‘her kids’ much more than the contents of any textbook. Their legacy is one of SERVICE and LOVE.
For these two, I am part of that

@JonesForAR

There is nothing the governor of Arkansas loves more than retweeting compliments from people who don’t live in Arkansas about how great she’s doing in Arkansas.
This baseball team gave us nearly six months of recovery from the worst year any of us have seen. I got to sit outside, enjoy a sport I’ve loved my entire life, and for most of the season know ARKANSAS was the best in the country.
Thanks,
@RazorbackBSB
. See you next season.
Arkansas needs a state law prohibiting changing legislative meeting times without 24 hours notice. It’s corrupt and unethical when shady politicians like
@BartHester
change meeting times on the day of a publicly scheduled committee hearing to rush passage & limit public input.
This is the 39th-largest city in Arkansas. Just a few hundred Democrats getting up to good trouble.
Mr. Chair, I think you got ‘em fired up.
@harrisonjaime
@DPAchair
@ArkDems
The Arkansas legislature is about to learn quick, fast, and in a hurry how unpopular private school vouchers are outside their party’s ideological bubble.
“I will never stop engaging directly with the people of Arkansas” says the candidate who holds only private/ticketed events, keeps out the media, and can’t be bothered to debate more than once.
Sarah has run a truly lazy campaign that’s mostly served to make her friends richer.
Some of the best school districts in the state were just betrayed by their state Senators, who advanced a bill to divert public funds to private schools.
Just a few:
Davis: Russellville, Morrilton
Hammer: Benton, Bryant
Dotson: Bentonville
Stone: El Dorado, Camden, Sheridan
If we keep up the heat, Arkansas Democrats are going to contest more seats in 2024 than we have in over a decade.
In the last 24 hours, we broke the threshold of competing for a majority and we are going to put a Democratic supermajority into play with your help.
Full stop.
Thanks to the GOP in Arkansas, teachers are being asked at school to “vote” on whether they want raises or to use previously dedicated funds on improvement projects.
The collapse of the profession is by design, y’all. If you aren’t furious, you aren’t paying attention.
#arleg
Sarah has such a very dismal view of the present state of Arkansas. There’s a massive crime wave, rampant violence, shuttered schools, and a crippled economy — all under a Republican governor and supermajority!
I encourage people who get stuck behind the pro-Hamas mobs blocking traffic: take matters into your own hands to get them out of the way.
It's time to put an end to this nonsense.
Had a wreck in NWA today and said goodbye to my cousin in Jefferson County tonight. Been a day.
I was born in ‘86 & Reuben was born in ‘87. He was born with Down Syndrome & was mostly non-verbal but his love was something everyone heard loud and clear.
Until the other side. 💜
You can either ‘stand with Ukraine’ or you can be “proud to be endorsed by Donald Trump” but you cannot do both.
Time’s up, GOP. Your guy chose poorly and you did too.
I’ve never seen anything like what I experienced during the solar storm phenomenon on the Buffalo National River last night.
What an unplanned and overwhelming blessing to be in a place with little light pollution (and a great Apple camera).
📍Steel Creek
Many violations of state law. Many people involved, including the Governor. Cover-up after cover-up.
#lecterngate
No political matter - just straight up law-breaking. Take the partisanship out of it. Take the lectern price out of it. They repeatedly committed criminal acts.
We get a new governor today. This governor-elect has vowed to further nationalize Arkansas politics, turning our schools and prisons into cash grabs, cutting taxes for the very rich, & fanning the flames of culture war in Little Rock.
We will stand up for a better Arkansas.
Have been so damn proud to walk this road with good-hearted, kind, and brilliant leaders.
The number of times I heard Chris Jones ask a child yesterday “what do you want to be when you grow up?” and LISTEN to their answer.
Two more days.
📷:
@Kelly4Arkansas
🙏🏼
Reminder:
@SarahHuckabee
is damn proud to work for the ringleader of this treasonous and deadly chaos circus.
She is dangerously unqualified and belongs nowhere near a Capitol — in Little Rock or Washington — ever again.
Arkansans have car-sized potholes on the highway while Cable News Governor showcases her appetite for Trump’s boot leather.
Meanwhile, the immigrants in my neck of the woods work hard, pay taxes, and never spent $19,000 of my money on a damn lectern.
We don’t need a “deal.” We need a wall.
Biden already has the power to secure the border and refuses to use it.
Reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy, build the wall, and enforce immigration laws already on the books.
$47.5 million to expand rural broadband and lower costs for families in Arkansas just released by Treasury and accepted gratefully by Asa Hutchinson.
Of course, not a single Republican in the delegation supported this historic investment in a brighter future for rural Arkansas.
What an abject insult to the educators and staff who are lifting up kids every day. The schools are open and no teacher in Arkansas is teaching that America is evil or how to become dependent on government.
Why do Republicans tolerate these lies about Arkansas schools?
For what it’s worth, a Veteran-founded, majority-women-owned company called Sound-Craft makes lecterns right here in Arkansas & probably would have provided a great local option for the governor if she hadn’t been so committed to funding the DC swamp.
More fear-mongering about a “radical left” that just doesn’t exist in Arkansas unless she’s talking about that first switchback on Highway 74 headed from Jasper to Mount Sherman.
Dishonesty is part of Sarah’s DNA, but she’ll be hard-pressed to find the “radical left” in Arkansas unless she means a sharp bend in the Kings River near Marble.
Won a few, lost a whole bunch and damn it if some great folks won't be missing from the Capitol next year. I am proud of our work, but sorry we couldn't do better for y'all.
We're in it for the long haul, Arkansas.
Over & over, Governor Sanders has shown that Arkansas is just a stepping stone in her quest to be on cable news & get back to D.C.
Arkansans are going to wake up to threats to our schools, constant divisiveness & shameless grift. Let’s just hope it’s not too late when we do.
If you have 15 very bad legislators and 85 decent legislators who let the 15 very bad ones run the show, you have a very bad legislature.
Arkansas is learning this the hard way.
Sarah Sanders claiming to have met more Arkansans than her opponents (laughable) and attacking the media is as typical for her habitual lying (crowd sizes, anyone?) as anything.
The more we hear from Sarah, the more we can see that she’s not fit for the job.
