Hendon Hooker will always be remembered as the player who brought Tennessee football back to relevance.
One of the best quarterbacks in program history. Special player. Special person.
Sports are the very best and the very worst.
Twenty years ago,

LB Daniel Bituli and his Congolese family lived in a refugee camp in Cameroon.
Now their oldest son serves in the U.S. Navy, their middle son works at Merrill Lynch and their youngest son is about to be an NFL player.
This America is our best America.

' Bru McCoy: I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I got here, in the best possible way. I couldn't imagine the noise, the environment, all of it. Coming here is the best decision I've ever made.
#Vols
’ Jauan Jennings: I’m a Tennessee guy from a Tennessee family. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the state of Tennessee and the University of Tennessee. I take that with me every time I step on the field. This place means everything to me.
Looked this up while waiting for Heupel to show up for presser.
First TN-Bama game after I was born was a Vols win.
First TN-Bama game after my dad was born was a Vols win.
First TN-Bama game after my brother was born was a Vols win.
This will be my son's first TN-Bama game.
Hendon Hooker's Tennessee career has ended with 6,080 passing yards, 1,046 rushing yards, 68 total touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
He started 21 games.
He produced so much more than numbers, obviously. But those numbers, wow.
Following the logic here...
Tennessee was punished in rankings in part because Hendon Hooker was hurt.
But that didn't make Hooker valuable enough to be a Heisman finalist despite being named SEC Offensive Player of the Year.
Some painful double jeopardy there.
It's sad looking at all the empty seats in some of these bowl games.
Why not release some of the un-sold tickets to local schools and organizations a couple days before the game and get more butts in seats? Surely some local kids and families would love to go.
#Vols
coach Josh Heupel: A lot of people questioned our program culture this week. Most people didn’t believe we could win 10 games this soon. But the kids who stayed after 30-plus of their teammates left, they believed.
At 7:38 p.m. Eastern, 22 inches and nearly 9 pounds of perfection named Henry George Rucker entered the world.
Meet Hank.
Thank you to the wonderful women and men at UT Medical Center.
Mom and Hank are great. Days get no better than this.

I will never not love

***Quick heads up so it’s not awkward***
I’m not in Indianapolis today and won’t be able to cover the

My son needs two kidney surgeries. First is this morning.
@GrantRamey
has it covered in Indy.
I’ll be back soon.
Stetson Bennett IV wasn't even the second-team All-SEC quarterback.
Love the kid. Inspirational story. But his QB rating was more than 20 points lower than Hendon Hooker's.
Even in an all-time tough year for Heisman voting, him being a finalist is yikes.
#Vols
coach Tony Vitello on Notre Dame: Not to humble brag, but the only reason I know we’re playing Notre Dame is I got a text message from Peyton Manning. Thank you for letting me tell everyone that Peyton Manning texts me.

So apparently TCU's home win over mighty Texas Tech made their resume better than Tennessee's this week when TCU's resume wasn't better than Alabama's last week.
That cannot be defended. It just can't.
I know what team I cover. But I'm also not an idiot.
#Vols
coach Jeremy Pruitt on his game plan for this week: There’s a high school team in Arkansas that does an onside kick for every kickoff and never punts. If we could do that and never give Alabama the football this week, that would be a great game plan.
Gutted for Texas A&M.
Between that and Tennessee being a No. 3 seed, Greg Sankey should make some angry phone calls and then move the SEC Tournament Champioship Game from Sunday.
Ridiculous job by the committeee. A&M deserved that more than a handul of those in the field.
Final in Knoxville: Georgia State 38, Tennessee 30.
One of the worst days in the history of one of college football’s winningest programs.
Unacceptable in every way.
I would have zero problem with TCU at No. 4 and Tennessee at No. 5 in the new CFP rankings, but there’s a problem with that and it should be discussed.
If TCU’s resume wasn’t better than Alabama’s last week, it sure as hell isn’t better than Tennessee’s resume this week.
You can't excuse Jermaine Burton's actions after the Tennessee game as something that happened because fans rushed the field.
We've seen the video, guys. It was a woman who was not threatening him at all, and he went out of his way to do it.
Not saying jail him. But come on.
Duke forward Kyle Filipowski: This isn't a hit on other teams we've played, but Tennessee was probably the most physical team we've played all year. Maybe more than Purdue.
Five-star PG Kennedy Chandler of Memphis on his commitment to Tennessee.
“I will always rep my city, but I’m gonna play for my state.”
Oh, man. Oh, man. That will sting Memphis.
Multiple people have tweeted me that they’re lining up on campus in the morning to cancel their season tickets if

hire Dave Doeren.
This is going well, you guys.
Interesting fact looked up by a
@GoVols247
subscriber...
TCU has beaten four bowl-eligible teams by an average margin of 6.7 points.
Tennessee has beaten six bowl-eligible teams by an average of 22 points.
Again, Georgia is the only defense that had made Tennessee's offense look human.
Mizzou was the 13th-best defense in college football, and it just allowed 66 points and 724 yards to the Vols. That's ridiculous.
Where’s the media outrage for ANOTHER fan base not named Tennessee’s throwing stuff on the field?
Getting difficult to try and explain this to TN fans. I’ve always insisted there isn’t a double standard. Maybe I was wrong.
Hate calling out my own kind, but I’m being honest.
In short, Tennessee's message to the NCAA: We were very wrong with the Pruitt stuff and we admitted to all of it, and you told everyone we were the standard of cooperation and transparency. We are not wrong here, and you can kiss our Big Orange Ass.
Thank you to the miracle workers at
@EastTNChildrens
. The first of Hank’s two kidney surgeries went great.
At least we didn’t miss a close game, right?
Can we stop for just a second and remember the fact that Tennessee settled for five field-goal attempts and missed one of them ... and still scored 40 points against a ranked LSU team at Tiger Stadium.
This offense is something else.
For too long, Big Athletics everywhere has let certain things slide.
Now a fan base rises up to oppose even the possibility of it, and they’re the crazy ones?
BS.
Reporter: What about your head-to-head loss to Tennessee?
Saban: I don’t talk about other teams.
Three seconds later, Saban: We didn’t have any bad losses. Other teams competing for this did. And they were late in the season.
Hahaha.
Kidney surgery No. 6 was a success. Knock on wood.
Hank’s madder than a wet hen, but he’s alright. Now we wait a bit and hope it worked.
Thank you for the millionth time to the heroes at

Tonight's attendance was the largest in the Gator Bowl since 2011.
The

Tennessee being really good has always been and will always be really good for college football, because almost no one is ambivalent about the

coach Jeremy Pruitt: The night we lost our running backs coach, I went home and turned the lights off and was ready to fall asleep. Next thing I hear is, “Are you gonna hire Jay [Graham]?" Yeah, you can tell who runs our house. It’s my wife.

coach Rick Barnes: It's Thanksgiving Week, and I'm really thankful that I got to see two of my players get baptized and walk closer to the God I believe in.
Mississippi State’s Tanner Leggett flipping his bat at Tennessee’s dugout after a home run that cut the Bulldogs’ deficit to 23-2 might be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
They're required to play the winning team's fight song after NCAA Regionals, regardless of the game's location.
Clemson just played like seven seconds of Rocky Top. Then switched songs.
Amazing.
Kentucky coach John Calipari: People said we might be a 1 seed. Well, [Tennessee] just beat us. What’s that say about them? Look how they’ve been playing. Just watch the games.

Tennessee is 121st out of 131 teams nationally in time of possession, but the

Against the nation's 15th toughest schedule.
Without Cedric Tillman.
It's just wild.

coach Rick Barnes: I have friends in Texas that will be dear friends until the day I die. I'll always be grateful for them. But I've been gone nine years. I'm a Tennessee Volunteer, and I thank the Lord for that blessing.
Got a bit emotional reading stories about officials telling some tornado-aid volunteers to go home because there were too many of them and they couldn’t get heavy machinery in there.
The Volunteer State is such an accurate name. Every time.
What a special place to live.
Today, for the first time in Hank’s 26 months on earth, we were told his kidneys had not gotten worse, and that the really bad one looked a little “happier.”
*Maybe* no more surgeries. Just those first six. No PAT.
I will praise and support
@EastTNChildrens
until I die.

freshman PG Zakai Zeigler before, consider this.
Last night’s postgame kerfuffle between Vols and Gators started when a Gator called Zeigler short.
Then Zeigler stood on a chair so they could see him Gator Chomping them off the floor.
Gold. Solid gold.
Remember that time Tennessee had an offense with Josh Dobbs, Alvin Kamara, Jauan Jennings, Jalen Hurd, Josh Malone, Marquez Callaway, John Kelly, Ethan Wolf and Jakob Johnson and it didn’t win the SEC East?
#Vols
coach Rick Barnes said officials during Sunday’s win over Lipscomb told him he needed to stop trying to ref the game. Barnes replied that if they’d ref the game, he wouldn’t have to.
If you’re wondering whether the ref was distracted or had an obstructed view of that hilarious facemask call he missed today … well … nope.
Staring right at it.
Nice to see Jeremy Pruitt allowing the

Pruitt said graduating from college is the most important thing you can do in college, and he’s right.
Jarrett Guarantano gave

everything he had. Sometimes it wasn’t good enough, and sometimes it was rough, but lack of effort or care was never the issue.
Really hope people let the kid move on with his life and enjoy a fresh start elsewhere.
Not sure how the SEC proved Jauan Jennings intentionally stepped on the Vandy player’s face. No video I saw proved that.
If he did it intentionally, suspend him for a full game, not a half game. And if he didn’t do it intentionally, don’t suspend him.
B.S. decision IMO.
I know some of y’all are angry.
I get it. Sensitive subject.
That doesn’t change that Bama’s best win is against the No. 20 team in the country. Lost to the best two teams it played.
At some point you have to beat someone.
BREAKING: Zach Edey has been called for a foul. It was an obvious foul, and the Purdue fans are losing their minds. Hahaha. It really is ridiculous enough to be kinda funny.
I still don’t understand how a play is over before a whistle is blown just because an official believes the play is over.
Isn’t that why they have whistles?
