So with Aeration being the key to🌱🌱🌱success 8 years ago I built an aerator out of some leftover material to try & help me improve a football pitch Well after a few modifications over the years, this homemade piece of kit has helped me transform 2 grassroots ⚽️pitches 🌱👌😊

So it’s just after 3 years since I set out to improve the pitch ⁦ @CranfieldUnited ⁩,After a quick check today,the🌱coverage is up by 40%,thatch levels have decreased by half,the grassroots health/mass has increased massively & the root depths up by 40mm 🙌 #GroundskeepersLife

So what I’ve found at grassroots is that it’s really important clubs,coaches,players & grounds keepers work together when it comes to protecting the pitches throughout the winter months Just warming up off the pitch & not in the goalmouths made a big difference to these two⚽️🌱

So Volunteers are trying to find time to prep and mark their pitches for restart,most work full time & it’s dark by 4pm,can’t use floodlights with no revenue coming in,using the tractor/mower will depend on how much fuel is in them,very tough times for grassroots sport right now!

So imagine producing a fantastic cricket wicket/pitch for your country which makes for a great test match🏏🌱👌then unfortunately because of the weather the test match gets abandoned🙄😔 Then straight after you get ripped for doing your job properly 🤷🏼‍♂️😔

As a volunteer groundskeeper for over 10 years now,I’ve learned some very important lessons One of them is to never be afraid of making the decision to call 1 game off to save the next 3 Todays 2nd team games off We now look forward to Tuesday nights 1st team game #Grassroots

A competitive game of football at grassroots needs to have a qualified referee and a minimum of two qualified coaches for the game to go ahead,Please can we add this to there qualification course -👇This is what happens when you play 1 game on a pitch in the wrong conditions 👍🤷🏼‍♂️

clubs that are lucky enough to have a volunteer looking after their pitches should understand that their time is limited,our aim is to try to help improve your pitch,this will help the club by reducing P-P & get the games on👌😅this doesn’t mean you should increase the fixtures🤷🏼‍♂️
