the world is such a beautiful place, i hope one day i can make something beautiful in return
i draw and 3d model, i also do writing

long term nuclear waste storage is really cool and interesting thematically and in terms of vibes, but the idea kinda falls apart once you learn that nuclear waste isn't as big of an issue as you might think it is
in the year 58,515 a ship tears through space at 99.9999% lightspeed. at these speeds the microwave background radiation is blueshifted all the way up to visible light. the ship sees the face of creation, and burns under a primordial fury long forgotten to the universe...
On Saturn's moon Titan, there is a gigantic tower that stretches so high into the sky it pierces the thick tholin clouds that blanket the moon's surface
the dark forest hypothesis is so lame it sounds like something an edgy 14 year old would come up with. If we met aliens I think the best course of action would be to make out sloppy style with them, then spend 10 hours chatting and learning about eachothers cultures and societies
i thought it'd be fun to model a spaceship but in a sort of low poly style. here's an outer solar system fusion torch that uses liquid droplet radiators
Earth in the year 5,095.
The planet's biosphere has been restructured once again, and now every animal is fully autotrophic. Pain caused by predation, disease, and starvation has been destroyed. All of nature's creations are free to frolic and play just like humans
on a cloudy earth day, the western launch array sits unused. their tethers stretching far into the sky and out across the atlantic ocean. even though the loops are automated, nobody is around to repair the wear caused by the harsh ocean wind to their supports.
discovered the most fucked up ksp homeswitch ever, rouqea from kcalbeloh.
no land, no moons
1.28 g, 6.26 atm
6,000 m/s to reach orbit, and like 30,000 m/s to reach the nearest other planets
every engine except jets and props basically don't work at sea level
a vehicle able to take people to Alpha Centauri in 25 years, without even needing any nuclear fusion!
i got around to crunching the numbers for this ship and arrived at something i'm happy with, so hopefully this will be the final design i'll use in the story
today i made another ship in ksp, here's an automated industrial cargo hauler that runs on deuterium-deuterium fusion. when not carrying anything it has about 528km/s of delta-v and an acceleration of 0.25m/sยฒ
a probe equipped with a plasma magnet shoots past Jupiter and its moons, having only taken about a month to get there from Earth while using almost zero propellant
a small community of microgravity adapted folks in the kuiper belt
due to not needing gravity, their habitats are usually just spheres to minimise radiation shielding needed. these spheres are tethered to an asteroid which has a big deuterium fusion powerplant inside it
i made another ship in ksp today
a small NTP ship that has about 9km/s of delta-v, wet TWR of 0.12. i like to imagine it's used for going between Jupiter's outer moons or something
through the use of brain implants and similar technologies, people often spice up their conversations with accompanying images, videos, or even entire memories or experiences
blender project from a few months ago that i didn't finish
crewed nuclear electric propulsion ship, using pulsed inductive thrusters using ammonia as propellant
a person gifted with infinite immortality finding a new joy in life long after the universe went dark by telling the boltzmann brains that pop into existence about the beauty and splendor of the early universe
i'm not sure why it took so long, but i finally finished the big photon drive for that ksp mod. hopefully i can upload the mod soon
i've learnt that making big parts in ksp is a real headache... lets never do it again
on earth, on a clear day, it's possible to catch a glimpse of one of the few massive space habitats orbiting about a moon's distance away. these carbon nanotube behemoths are mostly used for growing food and preserving earth's original biosphere
a gigantic launch vehicle propelled by a closed-cycle gas core nuclear aerospike bathes the surrounding landscape in radiation as it hauls several hundred tons of payload into low earth orbit
opening the cargo bay
i also made some changes to the design, adding rcs thrusters and squeezing another fuel tank in to bring the delta-v (when not carrying anything) up to ~900km/s
today i made another ship in ksp, here's an automated industrial cargo hauler that runs on deuterium-deuterium fusion. when not carrying anything it has about 528km/s of delta-v and an acceleration of 0.25m/sยฒ
every martian year communities get together to celebrate the day the first permanent settlement on mars was established, back in the early 2200s. the specifics vary wildly from region to region, but the festival usually involves fancy outfits, nice food, and intense partying
it's kinda fucked up that in old versions of minecraft pumpkins would just naturally spawn with creepy faces on them. even when growing pumpkins in a farm they would just do that on their own
What types of spaceship propulsion seem the most practical in your opinion for getting around in the future? (How far into the future and for what niches of space travel feel free to specify)
folks living in the floating cities of venus are often genetically engineered to secrete a layer of mucus on their skin that protects them from the haze of sulphuric acid in the planet's atmosphere, allowing them to head outdoors with only breathing equipment and eye protection
nuclear jet powered satellite airlaunch system "Revolution"
because Rouqea is such a huge world, it takes some pretty serious hardware to get even small payloads into orbit
imagine aliens living on a big planet where the delta-v to reach orbit is so high the only way they can reasonably put large payloads into orbit is by using surface-launched orion drives
if we ever find out that Luhman 16 (brown dwarf binary only 7.43 lightyears from here) has planets around it i will be moving there immediately... big fan of brown dwarfs personally
Anyone else just like, not watch any TV at all? My parents and grandparents do nothing but watch TV... it looks so boring - constant stream of adverts occasionally interrupted by something you might be interested in watching...
it's kinda lame how the universe has so many exotic particles that can potentially form new and interesting types of matter but they all decay into boring stuff pretty much instantly
plasmadynes are such a lovely niche of space propulsion concepts, it's so fun getting to use words like "wind" or "airspeed" when talking about vehicles travelling through space
If I had my own orbital habitat I would fill it's ecosystem with slugs and snails and similar creatures, it would be awesome I would hang out there a lot
