And here’s a little sneak at how we did it. It’s tricky for the actors. They look right into the barrel of the lens, seeing themselves reflected in the glass in the matte box and not the other actor. But Hinds and @ClareEmmadunne are absolute pros.

The budget was really tight on Red Rock. There was no extra money for grip equipment. So when I wanted to do an overhead push in and a crane was out of the question, we improvised. This is a pillow glued the wall. And the actor standing up! The tight angle sells it.

Dialogue scenes are usually shot with one character looking LtoR & the other RtoL; it creates connection. #KIN is about a fractured family and so we used a lot of negative framing. Here, we place characters at odds to each other & never show a 2/shot; it creates disconnection.

Did I say shooting in cars is hard! It took us the guts of a day to film what ended up as a 17 second scene! We used a pod car to allow us to shoot at speed. We needed a road closure. It’s expensive. But it looks deadly! Here’s the scene & some BTS.

Here's one from the past. My first ever ONER. It was in 2016 for a TV series called Red Rock. This was one of the craziest schedules I've ever worked. We shot 4x30 mins of TV in 8 days. That's like 12-20 pages a day. It was intense. But I loved it. Be gentle, I was raw!

Here's a funny one. When we shot this stunt we needed to use a soft/foam pole to knock the stunt rider off his bike. So we needed some genius VFX work to straighten the pole and make it look like steel. Then we added some sound effects to make it sound like steel. #Bulletproof

Michael Mann often crosses the line to achieve emphasis. See Heat & The Insider. I attempted this on @Hollyoaks Here I wanted to visualise a shift in power from one character to the other. Just when you think you've gotten away with it, track over the line. Mann does it slicker!

Here's how the storyboard process works. I recce the locations, take loads of pictures visualising the scene as I imagine it. I send them to my storyboard artist and he adds what I need (a woman) and takes out what I don't need (the snow). @BBCOne @bbcstudios @bbcpress
