Sometimes if feel like the hand held device is killing my spirit. It gives me so much, but delivers false promises. It preys on my weaknesses. It offers easy temporary answers but never a solution. It suggests that we are not alone but we are. The only way out is through work.

A successful entry does not mean 'selected' to purchase. We have a team executing multiple layers of screening across all entries to ensure these shoes end up in the hands of individuals.

I don’t think there’s a difference between a sculpture at MoMA or a ten bullets t-shirt because they’re both artworks. They’re both done with the same degree and care. Every decision is considered, whether it’s the humblest sticker or most elaborate Space Program.
The kind of artist I relate to most is the kind who can work in any medium. Digital media is a newer tool but it still carries the values of transparency that are important to me. I’m okay living with regret; the worst regret is not having done something.
Embrace contradiction say fuck the money it’s not about that, but also understand the illusion and how it works for us. Money talks and bullshit walks. It makes this real. NFTs and the artworld are the same it’s just a diff set of rules. We all live under the rules of gravity
Steal from other people's work but do it better - honor the traditions we are all a part of - there is a mountain we are all digging ideas out of - build on what you take from it.
I’m lucky that my art is supported by that artworld, but my team and I make big efforts through our movies, webstore, zines, stickers, sneakers, shirts to make the work accessible. Ive been doing that for 3 decades.
What the NFT has shown us is that you don’t need the artworld to consecrate you. You can do it yourself, whoever you are. That is so incredibly liberating.
I will be signing advance copies of Tom Sachs: Spaceships tomorrow; Monday, November 21st from 4-6pm EST at

Joseph Beuys said “everyone’s an artist”, Amanda Palmer said “you’re an artist when you say you are”. I’ve always thought of myself as an artist way before I did an exhibition or made a sale.

I love Duchamp because he has the audacity to sign a urinal and say “this is art because I say it’s art” but he also has the discipline to clearly define the boundaries so that you trust that statement and define the edition, whether it’s one of one or ten.

A real artist isn’t afraid to use technology. Technology is how I connect with a larger community of followers, and expand on the values of my work and studio.
Two Modes of Making: Coming up with a New Idea vs New Way of Expressing an existing Idea - Very few artists can do both - Louis Armstrong did both successfully.
