Commissioned by the Post Office and Royal Mint, Dorothy Wilding took the first official photographs of the new monarch in 1952. As shown by the proof, this portrait was selected as the basis of the image of The Queen for postage stamps.

, officially opened. At 189 metres high, the Tower was the tallest building in London until 1980 and is still an iconic part of the capital’s skyline.

. A magnificent Victorian penfold pillar box found in Bath a couple of months ago by one of our team.
December 2022 marks 40 years since Raymond Briggs' classic animation 'The Snowman' was first broadcast on Channel 4. Now Christmas Eve wouldn't be the same without it.
This stamp is part of a 2014 collection that celebrated Briggs and his creations.

was introduced. Senders not recipients were now charged for post based on the weight of a letter not distance. This opened up communication to the masses meaning it was no longer a luxury only the wealthy could afford.

, spotted by one of our team on Devonshire Road in Forest Hill.
Introduced as a standardised design in 1866, the Penfold only lasted 13 years before the more traditional pillar box design today was favoured.

This pillar box was found in East Ayrshire and might just be one-of-a-kind, having been made locally in Kilmarnock in the early 20th century for local use only.
