Journalist Vinod Dua died today, aged 67, in a Delhi hospital due to illnesses following his Covid infection in the second wave. His wife, radiologist Chinna Dua, died of the pandemic early this year. I took this photo in the pre-Covid era in capital’s Faqir Chand bookstore.

Sad news. She died this morning. She, name unknown, lived alone on the lanes of Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti. She was very friendly to me and always asked me to take her picture whenever she would spot me on her street. The beautiful part of our world stands reduced.

Great news! Weeks ago I wrote an obit on Old Delhi’s landmark Shabrati Nihari Shop that shut down post-lockdown. The owner converted it into a grocery. Now, grocery is history and Nihari shop is back. Owner said his cooks returned from their villages! This scene is from today!
