Niamh Collins won the 800m at the Victor Lopez Classic at Rice Univ. in 2:11.21 ( #9 in U.S). She broke her Mom’s SHS SCHOOL RECORD of 2:13 that had stood since 1994. She did it on her future college home track and her Mom’s alma mater and former track. What a story! @niamhm_c

Ben Pearce and Niamh Collins are our first two District medal winners and Area qualifiers. In the 3200m final last night, Ben won the District Championship title and Niamh was runner-up (PR 11:08). Owen Duggan was 5th in the boys' race and earned team points. Congrats!

NEW SCHOOL RECORD!! SHS Junior Kenneth “KMO” Owen cleared 6’9 in the High Jump today and won first place at the KISD Bubba Fife Relays. The old school record of 6’8 was held by three former Spartans (Bernard’91, Gillette ‘96, Wilson ‘02). What a day!

Our boys in the top-10 at Regionals over the weekend: Kenneth Owen - 7th High Jump Ben Pearce - 8th 1600m (big PR 4:25.41) Daylan Rushing - 9th 800m Nik Rodriguez - 10th Pole Vault (big PR 13-0) Daylan is a junior and Kenneth, Ben and Nik are all sophomores. Congrats guys!

Ben Pearce collected another District Champion 🥇medal, running 4:17 in the 1600 to take the victory. Jona Morford ran a PR of 4:30 to finish 4th and earn the Area qualifier. Good luck next week to both!

Daylan Rushing earned the silver medal in the 800m run at Area. Ben Pearce took the bronze in the 1600m after finishing 4th in the 3200m run earlier in the day. Both will compete at Regionals next week.

Luke Rives and Aaron Deleon are multi-qualifiers for Regionals. At Area on Friday, Luke won long jump, took 2nd in 100m (10.97), and 4th in 200m (22.30). Aaron finished 3rd in 100m (10.99) and 3rd in 200m (22.04), both PR's. Great job, gentlemen!

Luke Rives is District Champ🥇 in Long Jump and Mac Greene (not pictured) is also an Area qualifier in 4th. Zach Prudhomme took 3rd 🥉 in Shot Put and will join the fun at Area next week. Joe Netter (5th Triple Jump) and Jack Boyce (6th Discus) scored points for the team.👏👏

Avery Jackson and Gretchen Loveless came through with big results in field events at Area yesterday. Avery is the Area Champ in Pole Vault and Gretchen finished 2nd in Discus. Both set PR's and both are headed to Regionals. Congratulations, ladies!

Two of our seniors, Siena Yoder @SienaYoder and Maggie Pearce @MaggiePearce17 , earned hardware in the final regular-season meet of their HS careers at the Cy Springs Invite. Siena was 2nd in the 3200m run and 5th in the 1600m, and Maggie was 3rd in the 3200m run. Spartan 💪💪
