A strong reminder that the Duffers specifically singled Mike out as important to the group.
Also, as the leader and the heart.
Case closed.
#StrangerThings5
Confirmed by Matt Duffer himself (again!):
- 8 episodes;
- 1 year of filming;
- They did the table read (for 6 episodes) last week; and
- They will do the table read for the last 2 episodes and it will be emotional.
The theory that
#StrangerThings5
ep 1 (and start of ep 2) is set in 1986 (while the rest of the season takes place in late 1987) is alive and well.
Nancy seems to have the same jacket as in ST4, and Robin and Steve have the exact same hair.
Jonathan does not, though.
Hm.
ST4 events so far:
Ep 1: (?)
Episode 2:
- Something at hospital (night). Ambulance arrives. Party + teens, Karen present. Paramedics needed.
(...sometime after)
- Dustin and Mike at the school with Jocks (bullied?)
- Mike visits El at radio tower/grass
- Hopper radio tower
Theory of the events of episodes 1-2 of
#StrangerThings5
based on the informations we have so far ๐งต
This is SPECULATION and theorizing based on incomplete info. I am probably getting things wrong, so please dont act like I am stating facts. Inputs and thoughts are VERY welcome!
All I am saying is Niagara Falls has 3 waterfalls, and is on the border with Canada.
And El would do well to go somewhere the US government cannot find her to live in peace.
Finn has now confirmed:
- They have received and read the scripts for 7/8 episodes.
- The Duffers are "waiting" to read/give them the final episodes.
He has previously mentioned that the stakes are higher but "so far" Mike is ok.
He wants a LOTR ending.
#StrangerThings5
"Mike is well."
"a lot of the dynamics of season one."
"leader Mike moments."
Cast filming together (unlike last season).
Thanks Finn! Let's do this
#StrangerThings5
!
1. Taking her in and refusing to give her up.
2. Burning the tunnels.
3. Attacking Billy with a metal stick.
4. Crossing the desert to find a hidden facility.
Mike's young, scrawny person has directly saved El's life at great personal risk 4 times. He didn't even need powers
The Hawkins community thinks Mike, Dustin and Lucas are responsible for what is happening in their town.
The military thinks El is responsible for what is happening in Hawkins.
That is a pretty compelling story to bring our core four together.
#StrangerThings5
Finn being asked if he prefers IT, Stranger Things or Ghostbusters, and saying there is something "really special" about Stranger Things because it started it all.
But people still think he doesn't love the show and his character. Please!
If I hear ONE negative word about El's outfit for ST5, the person is question is getting it.
El is naturally beautiful and doesn't need to bother trying with her looks if she doesn't want to. My girl likes to layer and play around with her items. Let her!
THAT is her style.
- 9 months left of filming (we've had a bit over two. When they said 1 year, they meant 1 year).
- The cast has NOT READ the last episodes.
- Duffers are still working on last episodes.
- Actors know what will happen to their character only.
We are all done with block 1 and onto block 2!
This means Sadie only filmed for around 2 weeks for block 1, and Millie finished around 5 weeks as El before leaving to do promo for Damsel.
Finn seems to have filmed at least 8 weeks for block 1.
- This outfit is from episode 2, same day she had her conversation with Mike.
- The bracelet is still intact (we know it breaks same day, same outfit).
- Nose is bleeding, there was action.
- Night shoot and indoors. They did loads of night shoots some weeks ago.
Question for Finn: if her prefers IT, Stranger Things, or Ghostbusters.
Gaten remarks: you have a freaking line up!
Finn adorably shows appreciation for all three and says there is something "inherently special" about Stranger Things.
- All things point to them still filming in blocks.
- They have not done the table read for the last episode YET (they will).
- Cast is aware of the ending.
Gaten referring to both Finn AND Mike as the "anchor" for characters on the show, and drawing comparisons between Mike's character and the Stand by Me vibe.
Turns out he was mainly talking about Mike ๐
Stranger Things always follows the same pattern: they bring a new character every season, then kill them off.
They fake kill a main character, and bring them back.
So...Linda Hamilton? Definitely dying.
And a main is going to fake die. My money is on Mike as you all know.
By most accounts, there's going to be some high-profile deaths in
#StrangerThings
season 5.
We predict (alongside you guys, a Stranger Things superfan and the bookies) who is most likely.
This is the vibe:
Mike says something to motivate his friends, says they have to do this together, then stretches out his hand.
Lucas is the first one to place his hand on top of Mike's (mirroring the S1 handshake).
Will is next, and then Dustin. The Party is BACK!
SPOILERS AHEAD:
1. Henry disappeared for 12 hours in Nevada, where he lived with his family. He had been transported into Dimension X and that is (presumably) how he got his powers. He was not born with them.
Not that is was needed at this point, but Finn Wolfhard confirmed that Stranger Things 5 is longer than Stranger Things 4.
He also referred to how busy he is, and once again appears happy with the product. This is one of the cast members whose opinions I trust most, I am happy!
This scene shows both Mike and El in their own heads, and their insecurity.
Mike obsessing over a perfect gift, because he thinks it will make him relevant in her life.
El is obsessing over the wording of his note, rather than focusing on the efforts he invested in the flowers.
The question: what changes would you make to the show?
Gaten says killing off more people would raise the stakes. He then adds this should have been done before, not now. Finn jokes with that, contemplating what a scenario where Mike died in s1 would have looked like.
When thinking about how ST4 made it a point to show BOTH how Mike is the heart of the group, and also how everyone needs to work together to succeed, I am wondering how this could potentially be explored in
#StrangerThings5
Here is my theory with the below video in mind ๐งต
One of the first scenes introducing Mike was him going UP the stairs to try and talk to his parents, both of whom paid him little mind and barely looked at him.
In ST4, the roles are reversed, he goes DOWN and they are the ones following him and barely getting his attention.
19. Explained that experiments were conducted through blood transfusions from Henry to the pregnant women. That is how all the subjects were created.
The play ends with Henry holding newborn El in his arms and saying "I am excited to see you 011. I have something new for us"
Finn was joking with Gaten about how the show needed to kill more people. He was referring to Mike dying in season 1 when Troy ordered him off a cliff. It was an obvious joke.
Don't let people take it out of context. The video is coming soon.
OMG how dare Mike ask his best friend for space so he can speak to his girlfriend?!
What a monster! How does he sleep at night?!
Arrest him! ARREST HIM!
5. Henry appears to be under the control of the Mind Flayer. It makes him kill several animals, including Claudia's cat.
This is later confirmed by Brenner as something that makes him stronger.
A healthy relationship with a partner who wants you, cares for you, understands you, and is there for you is a VERY positive and healing thing. It helps overcome trauma, raises self esteem, and makes one feel safe.
If you don't want this for El, you probably don't like her.
Will be posting news from Finn and Gaten's panel today at the Orlando Comic Con. I am just not sure if I should leave my account public for that considering what happened last time I shared facts.
More evidence that ST5 starts in 1986, probably with Hopper, El (and possibly the Byers) staying at the cabin. Notice how the side window is boarded up completely and there is a plastic bag on the back one.
In 1987 at least El and Hopper appear to have moved to the Radio Tower.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if they were to make plans for the future like they did in season 1, only this time things actually (for once) work out for them?
Vecna did tell Nancy he was going to target her family. If this isn't it, then that's one hell of a coincidence.
(i) Karen attacked by a demogorgon
(ii) Holly goes missing
(iii) Mike _____?
Btw, Patty at one point calls out to Henry from inside his room (while he is missing) and he responds. They have an entire conversation inside the void.
It is possible to communicate from inside the void if one of the two people has powers.
Wheeler House.
One blue screen + lighting equipment (to the right)
Two other screens with the same scene, at least two people. One facing the camera, one with a hand creeping from behind the curtain.
Mike is an interesting, intelligent, strategic, complex character. He has the MOST fleshed out dynamics in ST. He is the heart of the group for: El, Lucas, Dustin AND Will. He is best friend to the boys and boyfriend to El.
Mike is more than just ships. Don't reduce him to that.
One of these things is not like the other. One of them was right, the other was wrong. This is why Mike is so important for El and the heart of the Party. He always put her wellbeing first, while also showing unconditional support.
The contrast is VERY clear,
Never confuse Mike not being physically strong as some of the others (like Lucas and El), with not taking part in the action.
Mike is ALWAYS at the heart of his plans and never refrains from taking active risks to protect El and his friends. He is absolutely a fighter.
2. Brenner's father was captain off the SS Aldgate - subject of government Project Rainbow that "disappeared at sea." It actually wound up in Dimension X and all crew members except Brenner's father perished.
There isn't a single movie Finn is in that is out that has him spitting out blood. This is either Stranger Things 5 (eps 1, 2 or 4 - the ones he was filming at the time), or it's Hell of a Summer (that had most deaths happen offscreen.
When I say it's Mike at the hospital...
Someone pls tell me which movie in the past Finn had fake BLOOD in his MOUTH?โผ๏ธI canโt recall so could this be a SPOILER for MIKE in s5? It also seems he was going to spoil further when the lady said โgruesome stuffโ as he said โthereโs a loโโbut stopped himself with a sus face๐
For 4 seasons El has been isolated, called "weirdo", stared at, unable to do what she wants, or have a normal life.
This is the FIRST time we have ever seen her opening up about how this makes her feel. It was to the person she loves most.
...he responded with 9 "I love yous"
Henry is very awkward and really shy. Patty is outgoing, loves comic books and has a very pointed personalities. There are undeniable similarities with Mike and Eleven. Except Patty does seem to be genuinely scared of Henry at some points.
3. Brenner's father returned seriously ill and unable to take blood transfusions. Before he died, he told his son about Dimension X and Brenner became obsessed with traveling there and "opening a gate."
Finn talks about how the show is relatable to people with a passion for "nerdy" things and their acceptance for each other, and that is why it resonates with so many people.
And this is who I win. Bring me back the ST with nerds at the center!
6. Virginia is terrified of her son. Henry had an incident where he almost kid a classmate in school, so the family moved from Nevada to Hawkins for a "fresh start." She is not kind to her son and is scared of him.
"We've got a great cast of characters here, and actors, and any moment we're spending with a new character, we're taking time away from one of the other actors."
They are finally learning, are they?
Also - the photo choice here is top notch!
Owens writing Brenner as though they always had plans for El, despite her never having been privy to them. Owens referring to El as "asset" for "retrieval" and "extraction."
"You all treat her like she's a machine when she's not a machine."
Mike was right. Mike IS right.
4. Henry disappeared in Nevada, close to where Brenner was conducting experiments to try and find Dimension X. A member of Brenner's lab ran away with some equipment and was never seen again. Henry returned but was completely changed. Alice mentions it is not the same person.
When Henry uses his powers, he sometimes gets tentacles. At one point, we see the exact same tentacles behind his back as we do in ST4.
Also, before he attacks Patty, you can see the Mind Layer forming in the background. It is very cool.
I don't feel any concern at all with what is said here.
What I AM fixated on is the fact that the cast doesn't seem to have those final scripts yet. They MAY be waiting to get those reactions on camera during the final table read.
Eyes on the prize, guys!
7. Henry meet Patty and has an instant connection. She encourages him and tells him he can use his powers for good. He says he has nightmares and "hurts" things, and she tells him he can control his own dreams and use them for good.
Episode I - The Crawl:
We do not know much about this eps aside from that here the season starts "pedal and metal" with the characters "going after Vecna from the start."
This, and the title, leads me to believe this episode will take place in 1986, not long after ST4 ended.
Thinking about the rumored Wheeler scenes that they are supposedly filming for
#StrangerThings5
and I remembered this post I made on Reddit last year.
I wonder if this trend will continue, and if for once their issues might converge and be related to their family for once.
8. Henry attempts to use his powers to help Patty find her mother. While he is doing this, he loses control and the Mind Flayer takes over.
Patty's father arrives and Henry almost kills them both, but Patty tells him she loves him and he is able to assume control.
Being a Mike fan is bonkers because it forces you to argue:
(i) Events of the show are enough to prove a character is right;
(ii) Its not a crime to love and care about your gf;
(iii) A friend is not a babysitter;
(iv) Relationships are MUTUAL;
(v) He meant what he said (!!)
Having listened to the Joe Chrest (Ted Wheeler) interview, what I found most interesting was:
- His remark when asked about Ted not being in Nancy's vision, after which he added he could no longer speculate because he has the scripts.
- Cliffhangers at the end of eps like s1.
