This is one of my biggest Krakoa era sliding door moments. There was absolutely no need to precipitate such an accelerated fall when we could have seen the collapse and rebirth of mutant society from within.

I think he’d lost faith in the council some time ago but aside from that I think X/Men Red shows how much trust and respect he has for his former students now that their leaders in their own right

It really didn’t affect anything in the long run. Even if they weren’t officially the leading council, everyone still acted in those roles when Orchis Attacked the Hellfire Gala.

Fr it feels like the last era was really dragged out and now we are suddenly sprinting towards the end. I’ve liked plenty of these books but I’m hating the pacing

What sucks the most is that there weren't even any ramifications to this. The QC could have still been intact by this year's Gala, and nothing about how it or FoX played out would have been any different.

Doug did the best thing possible for Krakoa by dissolving the quiet council, and somehow, the writers ran with "everything dies now!"
Could have been another few years at a new Krakoa perspective.
