This panel is from X-Men Blue, just before the Krakoan era. It’s interesting if only as meta commentary on the nostalgia rut the franchise was in at the time, especially as this was an era with both a time-displaced o5 and Old Man Logan. And some people want to go back??!

Krakoa era struggled with this too at times. Definitely had some really unique ideas but events like Dark Web tended to regress characters in order to repeat variations on beloved 80s events

Dark Web is a good example of where it did feel like a bit of a rehash but I think those types of stories are the exception in what has been a generally inventive era of storytelling

A lot of people are content to just keep re-reading the same tired plot-lines from the 80’s and beyond, OVER and OVER again, (i.e. The Phoenix, 🙄).
The writers am sure hate it, but forced to do it only because it
💰sells💰. So… they’ll keep going back.

The nostalgia rut for me was bringing back everyone from Maddy to Destiny. I liked the 80s better the first time.
