Credit to Matt Eberflus. The overwhelming majority of resources the Bears have spent this offseason have been on offense. He's actually letting his side of the ball take the hit for the good of the franchise QB.

2nd round pick got him Montez Sweat.
Offense needed help. Been ranked near last in the league for a while now. I expect that to change now.
@startkyIeorton
He is a “simply coaching up the defense, not making any major mistakes with in game decisions & off field PR comments and letting the offense do their thing all of next season” from almost being back in good graces

Or Poles pointed to all the draft capital and money spent on defense and told his defensive head coach to figure it out instead of practicing hard for the 2nd worst 3rd down and red zone defense in the league.

I think the plan was to rebuild the defense first so by the time you want to bring in a QB (which they were always going to do) you have an elite unit to help an offense get through the growing pains
@startkyIeorton
Maybe he's a smart enough head coach to realize that if the offense is on the field longer and scores more, it makes it easier on the defense. Plus, if they win more games, he keeps his job.

Our 2nd round pick yesterday was technically Montez Sweat so the resources have been used to improve that side of the ball.
