The Deputy First Minister
@JohnSwinney
has announced a number of measures for the awarding of National Courses at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher in 2020-21. Our response detailing the next steps and links to resources can be found here

Can I clarify - it says in your statement on SQA that ‘In response to this consultation, we have today published information on the modifications for individual subjects’ - where is this information? It is not available for 2 subjects I teach but is for another

Hi Gillian, thanks for your feedback. Our subject specific web pages are being updated right now. But rather than having to keep refreshing your browser, use our MyAlerts function and get email or text alerts when the pages you select are updated.

What a stress for the kids doing highers. Can u please tell me how Higher PE one off performance can happen when they are not allowed to train in the PE halls together.
The schools need more instruction on this.

Thanks for your feedback - subject specific guidance, published on a rolling basis, will be available following the October break.

We are about to finish the first term. Some of us are about to complete first unit of N2/3/4 coursed and you only now state you will be looking at these courses! Appalled at the timescale of all this!!!

@JohnSwinney
I can understand the cancellation of the exams. I do not understand the cancellation of the N5 Courseworks. That would have been an important externally assessed task that would enhance confidence in the grades awarded. Why throw away this important assessment? Makes no sense!
@sqanews
@JohnSwinney
So Higher students miss 3 months of education plus any self isolation during term time and their exams are only pushed back by 2 weeks! Seems insufficient to me. Oh but wait they can rely on the online learning 😂

How long will the specific roll out take? Is there an order? It would help if we knew before the end of October- we have an in service day on 19th October which would allow at least a modicum of assimilation and forwarding planning.

@JohnSwinney
Absolutely crazy decision kids sitting together daily and in an environment where distancing can be controlled it's cancelled. Fear for the kids future under this government.
@sqanews
@JohnSwinney
Why can the timetable for highers and advanced highers not be given out before end of October? Please can this information be made public earlier.
@sqanews
@JohnSwinney
The higher and advanced higher pupils have missed so much this year would it not be more sensible to introduce modules up to end of 4th term and these be submitted for grading
@sqanews
@JohnSwinney
Feel this is unfair....our children have already been affected this year with N5 exams being cancelled this year....so now moving them back 2 weeks for their Highers is deemed the best thing...I seriously doubt this....2 weeks come on....get real!!
@sqanews
@JohnSwinney
Nat 5s always had a bit of a stigma for kids, now SNP have further alienated the kids who want to use them as a springboard to Highers, Further Education etc.
SNP - Shame on you !!!

Is it true that topics/units are being removed from higher courses? If a class has spent the first term studying the course units that are now redundant & their grades are entirely exam based they are at an immediate disadvantage.
