Sipho Gumede (1952-2004)
Legendary bass player who recorded 18 albums under his own name and four with his band Sakhile. He collaborated with various musicians such as Hugh Masekela and Brenda Fassie. In 2004, his album "Blues for My Mother" went platinum.

I love the song Isililo by Sakhile and When Days are Dark friends are few from his album Blues for my Monther. What a brilliant artist an extraordinary bass player.

Great jazz artist. Got the tail end of his career. Before streaming there used to be CDs, and mp3s. Last night I quickly opened my laptop to see what music of his I have in my rich jazz folder. My fav from the album you mentioned has to be 'When Days Are Dark, Friends Are Few'.
