Wow, this has been quite the month (and a half)!
I'm finally done with all 30
#nodevember
prompts!
Each is made from a sphere primitive with a procedural shader in Blender.
Thanks to everyone for the amazing support and overwhelmingly positive feedback! :)

I prepared a few demos for the new simulation nodes.
Here's a fun example of custom 2D curve simulation that I worked on for FX on our current short `Pet Projects` at

3.0 is out! 🥳
To present the shiny new asset browser in Blender I worked on a little default-cube-sized diorama with a small asset library. (CC-0)
Big props to
@JulienKaspar
who made most of the models!

Day 9 of
#nodevember
- Microbe 🦠
I'm really happy with this little guy! Very much enjoyed creating him :)
This is, again, just a sphere with a completely procedural shader, using vector displacement.
All animation is also procedural and done in the shader.
#nodevember2019
#b3d
Day 06 of
#nodevember
- Reptile 🐊
One day late, will have to catch up.
This is, as usual, just a procedural shader with displacement on a sphere :)
#nodevember2019

#nodevember
breakdown of my windmill 🇳🇱
It's amazing how fun it is to make these kinds of animations with fields!
This is all done with

No vector displacement this time. Instead fully procedural height maps of nuts and bolts with random orientation
Again, just a sphere with a completely procedural shader in Blender

Day 24 of
#nodevember
- Nebula
Need to catch up, so I thought I'd just jump in today and recycle the nebula I made for
@gleb_alexandrov
's bcon19 talk.
Watch it! If you've already seen it, watch it again!
This time in Eevee :)

I made a simple network that processes handwritten letters into colors.. running in the node editor in Blender.
Watch out colorpickers, A.I. is taking over your jobs!

Blender 3.5 is released and I worked on the new hair node system! 🎉
Here are some clips of how using it looks like, watch the full overview video here:
Big shout-out, of course, to the rest of the

🎉 Blender Foundation and the developers community proudly present Blender 3.5!
🔶 A massive release featuring: Viewport Compositor, VDM sculpting, built-in hair assets, USDZ, and so much more.
🚀 What's new:
Huge thanks to everyone involved ❤️
#b3d
I've been looking into an art-directable semi-procedural cloud workflow today. And damn, that vector input on the 'point density' node is really nice!
Expect more about this soon on the
@Blender_Cloud

#b3d
Last week on the produciton of Sprite Fright I created an asset for the hairspray effects using

We released the latest chapter to my procedural shading training on the
@Blender_Cloud

It's all about 'Shader Composition'. Here's the adapted example scene, set up with dynamic shaders that respect the material's properties.
Check it out :)

Last week we released the latest chapter (Shading Principles) of the procedural shading training I'm currently doing on the

Procedural shader on a sphere + procedural lighting for fake caustics
Not super happy with this one... I successfully made it look icky though. Well, on to something less repulsive... microbes!

The new chapter of the procedural shading series is also about semi-procedural workflow.
Procedural methods like this are incredibly powerful to turn simple photo maps into advanced parametric shaders.

- Weave 🧵
I've shown it before but here the official

- Snow(...-man) ☃️
The first day I'm going off-sphere... Or AM I?!

(Cannot exactly recommend this method))

Super excited to finally announce that I started working at the Blender Animation Studio in Amsterdam!
Word on the street is true, it's an awesome place to work :)
Day 15 of
#nodevember
- Tiles 🔳
Have gone for some rather outragous but useless shaders, now let's go with a classic of parametric materials.
Created this one with my advanced Bricks Texture:

Day 19 of

Heavily modded sphere primitive!
I know, I know, not technically accurate... at all...
For this I streamed most of the process on Youtube:

Somewhat realistic, 100% procedural, animated fire shader I am working on.
Planning to drop it this weekend :)

I don't talk about this often on here, but I've been studying physics over the past few years. There have been some low points, which makes me even happier to share that I pulled through and successfully finished my B. Sc. end of 2019, concluding my academic efforts for now 🎉
Blender 2.83 is released!
To demo the new vector rotate node I used my nebula from

Don't ask why I used a sphere and not a cube...
Will share more later and the file at some point next week.

- Hologram
This is not a volumetric shader.
Just a single sphere with a ray-marched image of a screw depending of the view direction.
This works really well with Eevee, demo in thread.
#nodevember2019
#b3d
I uploaded the file for my procedural tardigrade that I created for
#nodevember
last year to the
@Blender_Cloud
for free download:
So you can go ahead and take a peek at the nodes...
or just let it wiggle around... or give it a funny hat :)
#b3d
I finally got around to do a detailed breakdown of how we did the 2D look for the character shading on Wing It!
Spoilers: it's using a ton of
#geometrynodes
😁
#b3d
I made a prototype for a texture bake node with python. Definitely needs work, but I think the concept has potential!
It has a pass-through and a baked state and basically let's you make snapshots of procedural maps within the nodetree.
Learning a lot in the process :D
#b3d
Day 16 of
#nodevember
- Greeble
Not your usual space VFX, but I'll call this greeble anyway...
This was cool, kind of want to do something similar again with more time!

Day 28 of

- Porous 🧽
A bolt made of porous chocolate being chomped away.
Just a sphere with procedural ray-marched vector displacement.

I compiled a list of my various shader experiments with

Browse through them, maybe you find something interesting you haven't seen yet :)

Okay okay, I admit that the actual paper part is falling a bit short here.
Here's a bonus paper ball, if that's not enough for you:

Day 20 of
#nodevember
- Mechanism ⚙️
Technically not super accurate but I'll call it finished here.
I went for a Tourbillon mechanism. Some pieces are missing but I focused on the overall design.
Single sphere with procedural displacement shader, as usual.

I'm also going over how to work with procedural volumetric shaders in my procedural shader training.
So head over to the
@Blender_Cloud
and make some clouds in Blender ☁️ :)
BTW, the new sky world-texture is amazing for this kind of stuff!
#b3d
I challenged myself to make a 100% procedural leaf shader in Blender.
Took a few hours but it turned out better than expected!
Here's the result :)

Just want to share my portfolio page since I'm new to twitter and I want my previous work in here.
Feel free to follow if you like what you see :)
#b3d
#3dart
This one was a bit experimental, but did end up with a result that I like 🐠
Some manual animation with a procedural rig setup using
#geometrynodes
and some drivers.
Final file + live stream of making the base rig:
#b3d
#nodevember
#nodevember2021
I made a shader that can sample a height map from the scene. It has very low resolution, I don't dare do go beyond 32x32...
There are much better ways to do this but kind of cool that it works at all without baking!
(Only shader nodes and drivers)
#b3d
I'll scrap this for now...
Working on some basic custom noise textures for procedural texturing in Blender Cycles/Eevee.
I want to keep it simple for universal usability. Suggestions are welcome :)

I forgot to share this!
This year at
@BlenderConf
I gave a workshop for simulation nodes, building a melting setup step by step.

Folding, warping and distorting coordinates has a large part in creating shapes and patterns for procedural textures in Blender.
I talk about that in the chapter about space manipulation in the training series that I am making on the
