EPO (erythropoietin) is a 'hit and run' doping agent. It builds up the red blood cells to enhance oxygen carrying capacity to enhance performance, and is then excreted while the effect remains. Lasix and other diuretics hasten its elimination so it is not present during testing.

Henley’s Joy pre-race IV DMSO, a leg liniment, is a known doping agent able to hide EPO and other illicit drugs. It’s hygroscopic and diuretic qualities mask a variety of illicit drugs. The performance enhancing effect was several lengths, a dramatic form improvement, it seems.

It is either goodbye Lasix, or goodbye racing. Clean racing will restore and enhance American racing, making the sport safer, as it has globally. Lasix horses break down 5x more often than horses racing where drugs are banned in the week before racing.
