Im a nurse.
I just burst into tears at my doctors surgery.
I’d spent all last week yesterday trying to get a doctors appointment (you have to use ANIMA online system which kept going round in a loop or saying I needed 111 (which I knew I didn’t)…

I tried s
phoning but GP receptionist was rude (tutting, sighing) & just referred me back to ANIMA
Anyway I got what I thought was a GP appt today but it was with the practice nurse. No offence they are great but she knew I needed a Dr too…

I just burst into tears because I’d swapped my shifts, cancelled my grandparent duties in order to get to today’s appointment with a doctor. Yet because the system had put me with a practice nurse she couldn’t help me & I now have to wait another week

I also had a little cry in my gp earlier this year. I'd been coughing for 3 months straight. The answer was no. Eventually the receptionist said she'd speak to a Dr but it was unlikely they'd see me. Turns out they did & sent me straight to hospital.
@shinybluedress
Go to your nearest walk in centre. You will get help you need. I have done this when I need a dr urgently, because their ‘computer says no’ attitude, quite frankly, stinks. I only ever try to make an appointment when I really need it- not for every ache and pain
@Scarlett2030
I rarely need to seek medical attention, but I DID try a walk in centre once when I was met with the brick wall GP appointment system. The walk in centre was great and I got the relatively urgent treatment I needed that stopped me needing hospitalisation

A few weeks ago I booked an appointment with my GP for 9.00am (2 weeks later). When I showed up at 8.55 for my appointment I was told I had cancelled it. Nope, their other patient with the same name cancelled it. I too burst into tears and had to wait another week to see my GP!
@shinybluedress
It’s a common scenario now unfortunately.
You can insist that they make you an appointment over the phone.
Never be put off by a grumpy receptionist.
@AnaNutherthing
I did politely insist I I really thought I’d been given a GP appointment. But it was the practice nurse who couldn’t understand why I’d been referred to her as even she agreed I needed a face to face GP
@shinybluedress
I’ve personally come to the conclusions that all the GPs have left the country and the staff in the GP surgeries are trying to cover for this fact. 2many stories to evidence this-classic is mother-in-law’s GP practice can’t issue a death certificate as hadn’t been seen by GP 🤷♂️
@shinybluedress
My long waited referral to a dietician on Monday started with "I'm a student is that ok?" And for once I said "no". It was a referral to an expert (I have interlocking and conflicting diet related diseases). Hugs.
@shinybluedress
Been waiting over 1wk for my anti depressant prescription only to be told when I went in the surgery that the request was being queried. When was anyone going to inform me? Requested via our Klinik system to speak to a doc yesterday, still waiting. 1/2
