I read lots of books. I am a staunch defender of God's goodness and love for all. Men sin because we freely do so. Salvation is through faith in Christ.

The death of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, was the only death of a shepherd that was good for His flock and not a tragedy. When an earthly shepherd dies, it is a loss for the flock. When the Heavenly Shepherd died, He rose to bring us new life.

Many Christians used the eclipse to dunk on Dispensationalists, but as a Dispensationalist, I didn't see a single Dispy on X or Facebook tie the rapture to the eclipse. Maybe the Dispy haters should stop assuming the worst and look for what we actually teach.

I find it so important to repeat 1,000 times - God did NOT decree the Fall. In fact, He decreed for Adam not to eat of the forbidden tree. He warned of judgment if Adam did eat. He provided bountiful alternatives so Adam would never need to eat from it. Adam disobeyed His will.

The irony of this Spurgeon quote is that I know of no other Christian group that magnifies Christian men more than Calvinism: John Calvin, Owen, Spurgeon, Edwards, Sproul, Piper, MacArthur. Calvinists love their heroes.

One thing I've noticed since leaving Calvinism is that I hold other preachers and teachers in a much lower regard. I no longer see authors as indispensable or must reads. We're all just men who are capable of contributing in small ways and can get many things wrong.

This to me is the primary passage and foundational point where John Calvin's philosophy not only stepped beyond the bounds of Scripture but he directly contradicted it. This clear error resulted in all the other following errors of Calvinism.

Sovereign is a word related to authority and not control. The sovereign doesn't control His subjects. He sets the rules and judges His people in line with those rules. Our sovereign God set the way of salvation (faith in Christ) and gives salvation to those who follow His way.

Dear Reformed Infant Maligners, Crying in infants isn't a sign of sin but health. If an infant fails to cry, it means they are unhealthy. A crying infant should be a sound of joy for the gift of new life. Stop smearing the good gift of God by calling the cry of an infant: sin.

There are a lot of Christians that seem to really not like how the Bible depicts God's interactions with man. They don't like God's emotional responses. They can't stand that He changes plans in response to human actions. We need to use more Biblical terminology to speak of God.

It's a pagan view of God and man to believe that man is incapable of turning to God (Malachi 3). If an unbeliever repents of their sins and starts praying to God, they will soon discover the truth of the Gospel and be confronted by the truth so they can believe.

We must study the Word of God looking for precision and taking the message that the author intended to deliver to the original audience as the message of the passage. Our application and insights to theology must be built on meaning of the passage to the first audience.

@Phil_Johnson_ @bluetouchwiz @Soteriology101 @rogerecoff It's crazy to me how Calvinists equate "God creates men to hate Him" with a high view of God and "God loves His enemies (the non-elect) and wants them to be saved" with a low view of God.
