for it to spill out you would probably need a proper particle-based fluid simulation. what I got going on here is basically animated waves mapped onto geometry

Restraining the fluid simulation with in tht glass, few days ago I HV been exploiting the fluid simulation in blender but kept encountering tht prob of it penetrating through the glass walls
