Senior sports enterprise reporter for San Francisco Chronicle, covering Warriors, 49ers, Giants/A's, golf, colleges. Proud dad of Trevin, proud grad of

These boys went to preschool together 20 yrs ago. They ran around together so much, we dubbed them “The Three Amigos.” Today, Bryan (middle) made his MLB debut for the Mariners in Arlington, Texas — and Trevin (my son) and Jason were both there to watch. So cool! Congrats, Bryan!
Draymond Green on if he's worried about Steph Curry's leg injury: “Yeah, you always worry. I saw him getting dove on. I picked up my foul pushing them off him, because he was screaming at the bottom of the pile. I’ll take the foul for that.”

So this happened today: Played golf with my son on his last day home for winter break. Wanted to give him a memorable send-off, played Olympic Club with good friend/member. Trevin’s first round at Lake Course — and he made his first hole-in-one! No. 13, 6-iron, 180 yards. So cool
Carlos Correa clearly didn’t expect issues after his

tight end George Kittle rambles downfield like a madman, chewing up chunks of yards after the catch. His pregame preparation starts with reading weekly letters from his dad on the bus ride to the stadium. My feature on Kittle:
#49ers
defensive end Dee Ford said Carolina QB Kyle Allen’s zero interceptions this season trace to his good decisions. Asked if 49ers can pressure Allen into making bad decisions, Ford smiled and said, “That’s why they pay us.”
Curry on Iguodala's departure: "I’m the oldest on the team now, I’ve got to step my game up. It’s a tough business. You knew at some point there would be some hard changes. You talk about Andre and Shaun (Livingston), they're two guys who do things the right way." (more)
Pretty cool to see all those Oakland-raised point guards introduced as part of NBA’s 75th anniversary team: Jason Kidd, Gary Payton and Damian Lillard. And then Steph Curry, who played in Oakland for so many years
#SFGiants
manager Bruce Bochy says Mike Yastrzemski will play all three games this week at Fenway Park. Bochy understands what this means to Red Sox fans in baseball-crazy Boston. My pregame post from SF:
GOLF NEWS: San Francisco officials are expected to amend their contract with the PGA Tour on Thursday -- paving the way for an annual, Stephen Curry-hosted tour event at Harding Park. Chronicle exclusive:
Bruce Bochy says Mike Yastrzemski will play every day during series at Fenway Park. Bochy is eager to hear crowd reaction to grandson of Red Sox legend Carl Yastrzemski

Lexi Thompson answered only two questions after her round — and then her agent cut off the interview. Bad look. Standing up in victory AND defeat is part of the deal as a pro athlete.

Klay Thompson on Steph Curry's injury: "We need him if we want to win this thing. I know Steph will do everything in his power to play. I am really hoping he’s OK, because he’s our identity. Without him, it would be very difficult.”

Good news for
#Warriors
: Steph Curry, who missed Sunday night's game in Minnesota with a sore right hand, is not listed on NBA injury report for Tuesday night's game vs. Pistons. Gary Payton II (back) and Moses Moody (knee) are questionable
Stephen Curry on Klay Thompson's injury: “It’s just tragic for a guy as talented and hungry as Klay to come back from his ACL, and all that took, and now he has to wait another year." Chronicle exclusive on Curry's first extended public comments on Klay:
Trayce Jackson-Davis says Klay Thompson announced in locker room that Jackson-Davis’ nickname is no longer “Baby T.” He needed double-double to shed moniker, did it tonight with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Now known as “Trayce Jr” among teammates
One more Steph Curry update, since Kevin Durant injury (all Warriors wins):
Gm 5 vs Hou: 16 points in last 14 mins
Gm 6 vs Hou: 33 pts (all in 2nd half)
Gm 1 vs Por: 36 pts
Gm 2 vs Por: 37 pts
Gm 3 vs Por: 36 pts
Gm 4 vs. Por: 37 pts
Talked to former

More from Bogut: "We started putting Klay on Chris Paul back when the Clippers had their half-decent team. We noticed Chris didn’t like that, it really worked out well for us. And ever since then we haven’t been afraid to put Klay on bigger forwards at times, or smaller guards."
Just talked to Jim Barnett about his move to radio with

. He said, “I’m very happy and grateful to still be employed. I hoped I might work in radio after leaving TV. Radio doesn’t show age. I hope I can do this for many years to come.” Update story posting shortly

Thompson on Curry: "We trust the man with the ball in his hands. His track record proves it, with what he's done in the past. He'll do anything to win."
More from JTA, on the rapport among

reserves: “That’s the culture here. It all starts with the leaders: Steph, Dray, Klay, Andre. Everybody can’t be the main character in the movie, but you've got to play your role to make the movie work.”
Talked to Dennis Eckersley before A's Hall of Fame ceremony. "I still live in disbelief, kind of denial,” he told me of planned move to Las Vegas. “It’s sad and it's emotional. But they’re not going to take away these memories.” Story:

One more (gracious) quote from Jim Barnett, on Azubuike replacing him as

TV analyst: “I really mean this: I’m so happy it’s Kelenna and not someone else. He’s going to be good. He’s handsome, educated and he has a gift for words.” Updated story:

Also from Eckersley on how

Duke's Paolo Banchero on meeting Steph Curry the other day: "Everybody knows how he's changed the game, but getting to meet him, you realize he is a real down-to-earth, humble guy. He's got fans all around the world, a whole bunch of money, but he's just a cool guy."
Forty-three years ago today, my parents made the bold, life-changing decision to move from Chicago to California. I remain eternally grateful — especially when playing golf with my son in 70-degree sunshine in the middle of winter.
Overcast but no thick fog today at Harding Park (unlike past few days). Here’s view from 10 tee, where Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas start their round in about 10 minutes
Steve Kerr's message to Jonathan Kuminga after his 26-point outing Sat night: "If we were a lousy team, you’d be doing this every night. ... But you wouldn’t be learning how to win." Pregame post on Kuminga, who will start again tonight: via

Steve Kerr, asked if there were subtle reasons

look different with Steph Curry healthy: “There’s nothing subtle about it. The Bulls looked different without Michael Jordan. The Spurs looked different without Tim Duncan. So we look different without Steph.”
Hey golfers: My son snapped this on our flight out of Bay Area earlier today. Five cool courses clockwise from top: Lake Merced, Olympic Club (Ocean & Lake courses), Harding Park (site of PGA Championship in May) and San Francisco Golf Club
Nice decade for Bay Area sports fans: Local teams have won or played for championship in 8 of 9 years. Giants won WS in 2010-12-14; 49ers played in SB in ‘13; Warriors won title in 2015-17-18; and W’s and Sharks played for title in ‘16. Only blank spot: 2011
More from Curry on Iguodala/Livingston: "They have the ultimate level of professionalism, a respect for what they say and do. They’re both three-time champs, and I think they have a lot left in the tank. It’ll be fun and weird to watch them on different teams."

I missed lots of Father’s Days while Trevin was growing up, one of the few drawbacks of covering golf. Today, sweet redemption: I get to cover

at Pebble Beach AND hang with him. This makes me quite happy (and grateful).
More from Curry: "Everyone talks about all the talent we had on that team, but that doesn’t mean you can put it all together. ... I like to look at what we accomplished and focus on that, and be extremely proud of that run. Now we try to re-create that."

Stephen Curry has come off the bench twice in his 112 career playoff games, both times when returning from injury.
First time: He scored 40 points vs. Portland in Game 4 of 2016 West semifinals.
Second time: He scored 28 points vs. New Orleans in Game 2 of 2018 West semifinals.
Will Jordan Poole's swagger carry into his new role as Warriors' sixth man? Poole dropped 32 points off the bench Monday night, a good sign on the brink of Klay Thompson’s long-awaited return. Story: via

My son was 3 the last time Cal (my alma mater) beat USC. He asked to go home several times, but I kept shoveling him snacks. We stayed. Now he’s a college freshman. He called after tonight’s game to exult and tell me he was going to get a snack (1 am pizza in Madison).
