Was stuck in corporate America for 10 years, miserable, kept being overlooked for promotions, and life generally sucked.
Got out and said never again!
Never.
Now when I see people clamoring to "get into tech" , in my mind I'm like,
"Think of all the things that are shitty about corporate America. Ratchet those things up 5 notches and you'll get "working in tech". Now double that if you're black!"
I'm sure a bunch of people are happy in the machine though. But I don't know a single one of my friends that aren't completely miserable at their gig. Except my boy that's a pilot, he loves his job.
@rohangilkes
I will never forget the day I left my corporate job to start my first company. It felt like a dive off a cliff. Turns out we can be our own safety net if given the chance.
"Haven't had a job for a company that wasn't mine since."
By the way I phrased this really intentionally.
Entrepreneurship is just another job.
People add all this unnecessary mystique to it for no good reason if you ask me.
