My mother named me this! Author of Eleanor & Park and the Simon Snow Trilogy. Next book, SLOW DANCE, comes out July 2024. I also write Sensational She-Hulk 💚
Any Way the Wind Blows has been kneaded and allowed to rise three times. It’s been investigated and copy edited. The pages have been designed. And you STILL have to wait SIX MONTHS.
'ANY WAY THE WIND BLOWS' UK EDITION! Cover by Kevin Wada! There are two editions. A regular edition and a Waterstones special edition. Preorder the standard edition here --
Okay, I'm leaving. It's always nice to talk with you guys. I've been thinking a lot lately about how my author life will change once Any Way the Wind Blows comes out. Because I'll have given you everything I can about Simon and Baz.
Okay, I feel bad about the April Fools confusion, so I've decided to give you something actually good and exciting. Possibly too good and exciting. I may regret this later.
Eleanor & Park is on this list.
It's so frustrating for me to see the content of the book taken wildly out of context. No one objecting to these books is actually reading them. It's madness.
NEW: The “Heartstopper” books have been restricted to the adult section of the Columbia-Marion County Public Library and now require parental permission.
Now, the residents who pushed to ban the gay coming-of-age series are targeting 14 other YA books.

Okay, I'm leaving. But I'll be back next week to tell you about new Simon Snow Trilogy merch. Everything I've said today about Any Way the Wind Blows is true. You really will get Mordelia and goats and quality Agatha content.
When you guys first were like, "Simon has a wand!" I made fun of you. And then I looked at it again and was like, "Okay okay, that does look like a wand."
Also, I've been thinking about Any Way the Wind Blows, and I have advice for reading it -- which you can, of course, totally disregard, because once I let go of the book, it's yours to do with what you will...
Okay, so I logged into Twitter to tell you that I finally changed my spellcheck dictionary from British English to American English, and I got emotional.
Also, the language of book covers changes really fast. When we published Fangirl, there was a concern that it would look like a graphic novel because of the illustrated cover. (Hence "a novel.")
When I think about Agatha and Simon and Baz, I try to think of them beyond their roles in the triangle. Agatha isn't just the silly straight girl who got in the way -- she and Simon were friends. Are friends, I hope.
I think if you read Any Way the Wind Blows desperate to find out what happens to Simon and Baz, you will miss what is *actually happening to Simon and Baz*
Full-color endpapers for the Any Way the Wind Blows paperback.
@jimmyct
did these illustrations in the same style as his interior art. Jim's illustrations across the series are so wonderful. Beautiful AND clever.
I have a lot of feelings about this that I don't know what to do with. Even inexpensive clothing from the '80s and '90s is lush compared to the clothing available now. It's like everything tangible in American life is getting cheaper, more temporary, more toxic.
I wrote about why it's so hard to buy a good sweater these days. What's currently available in stores really is much worse than what you could find a few decades ago.
MATCHING 'CARRY ON' HARDCOVER! My glorious publisher
@WednesdayBooks
is giving us a 'Carry On' to match the rest of the trilogy. That

goodness! With new, cool illustrated endpapers and a case stamp. Preorder the TRILOGY EDITION here --
Did you see this? I've got a new book coming out. About adults this time, set right here in the World of No Mages. I think it's good, and I've read it several times.
First of all: I have a new book coming out on Nov. 8th! It's a collection of short stories, gathering up all four of my previous stories, PLUS five new ones. With gorgeous illustrations by Jim Tierney. Preorder links here:
Any Way the Wind Blows paperback news! The paperback comes out July 18th, and we wanted to something special with the inside cover. So
@jimmyct
-- who has drawn all the interior illustrations -- did two full-color endpapers to bookend the whole series.
I didn't intentionally make Baz and Simon look like Sirius and Remus. I was never a Marauders person, so I didn't even see it. I wanted Baz to look like a vampire and for Simon to look like a scrappy golden boy hero.
COVER REVEAL! The final volume of our Fangirl manga adaptation is coming Aug. 20 from

and script by me 💖☕️🔮💚
Apparently there is an ANY WAY THE WIND BLOWS bus in Mexico City. (Like a bus wrapped in an ad for the book.) I am DESPERATE to see a photo of this bus. If you are in Mexico City, please keep your eyes peeled. 🚍🚍🚍
I told myself that I'd offer up a paragraph from Any Way the Wind Blows to make up for my lack of news. I could give you some Simon and Baz, but I have a feeling you'd prefer Mordelia.
These tweets have nothing to do with what happens, good for bad. I was just thinking about how I ruined the third book in one of my favroite trilogies because I read it so fast and desperately, and I missed the whole story.
Here's a better look at the Fangirl anniversary edition! (Look who gets a guest spot on the back cover...) The book will have a stamped case -- no dust jacket -- and very cute stained edges. Preorder here:
Honestly? Yeah. I think I will. Fantasy is what I love to read. I was very nervous about writing it. But the Carry On books helped me get through that. And I loved writing The Prince and the Troll.
My next book is called SLOW DANCE. It comes out next SUMMER. And it is about ✨ADULTS✨.
I'm thrilled to be working on this novel with Jennifer Brehl and the excellent people at
@WmMorrowBooks
.
On the one hand, there will be fewer people yelling, "SEND SIMON TO THERAPY!" in my mentions.
But I might miss even that. I've loved having these characters that we were all excited about and invested in.
It's totally different from the experience of writing standalone books.
💛💜 INDIGO SPECIAL EDITION 💜💛 This one’s for you, Canada! Designed by Olga Grlic, illustrated by Kevin Wada. Featuring a Watford-themed case stamp and Kris Anka-illustrated endpapers. LUSH! Preorder here from

hang on, i really am going to share a paragraph from AWTWB. i'll never top the time i leaked "There's Baz in ISTG a flowered suit" or whatever.
i peaked that day.
Hey, hey, I'm still not here much, but I wanted to check in and tell you that I'll have more news soon, including an Any Way the Wind Blows pre-order incentives and the UK cover!
This was a tricky cover to nail down. You ask so much from a designer. (Make it look smart! Funny! Romantic! Accessible but still complex!) Also, we didn't want a cover that would mislead readers into thinking the book was YA. I think
@ninaelsted
did such a good job ...
OK, I'm really leaving now. It was super nice to talk to you guys today. I hope you're all wearing masks, eating protein, and getting your news from reliable sources 💛
Look who's in the studio today! 💛💚💜EUAN MORTON💜💚💛 I have been low-level worried for two years that Euan wouldn't be able to narrate Any Way the Wind Blows. I know he's THE voice of the World of Mages for so many readers. So glad he agreed to come back 💛
I rewatched Freaks and Geeks this month, and I was very nervous, because it's my favorite TV show, and usually those intense feelings don't stand up when you revisit something you loved. (Because you've changed, the world has changed.)
But OH MY GOD, it's still the very best.
I just think Baz *knows* that he's dangerous. He's a vampire. He's a powerful magician. He comes from old money. I don't think he feels the need to look edgy.
YOUR BOYFRIEND IS BACK, AND YOU'RE GONNA BE IN TROUBLE. Get your very own cardboard Baz, as illustrated by
@kevinwada
. Okay, here's the deal: These are expensive to make & we don't want to get stuck with a bunch, so pre-orders are only open until June 4.
I'm only doing ONE EVENT for the Any Way the Wind Blows launch, but we're really trying to make it a good time. We're treating it like a celebration of the whole Simon Snow Trilogy. (I'm going to post the link in a minute. If tickets are important to you, grab a credit card.)
I've finished the actual writing of my next novel, but I still really miss the characters.
This is a dangerous time. This is when I start flirting with sequels and spin-offs.
My agent calls this "writing your own fanfiction."
I'd always wanted to write a fairy tale, but I don't think I ever would have, left to my own devices. This one is a little more adult than my usual fare. (I'm inordinately pleased with it.) Prime members can read or listen at no additional cost --
Take care, guys. I just got my second 💉, so I'm feeling grateful and hopeful. I hope you're keeping your heads up and protecting yourselves in ways that you can 💛
(Every time I try to attach a photo to a tweet, my computer prompts me to attach my most recent file, which is a book manuscript. And I have a heart attack.)
