Meghan Markle and her husband say they're stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family and will "work to become financially independent."
They'll split their time 50/50 between the UK and North America.
Acting Comm. Sanders: The men & women of CBP meet this challenge every day and do their very best to cope with a worsening emergency. They care for these vulnerable children & families as if they were their own—changing diapers, mixing formula & comforting those in our custody.
The president of El Salvador tried to yassify himself to distract from the fact that 26 people were found in a mass grave in the town he used to be mayor in. Totally normal stuff.
ICE is committed to upholding an immigration detention system that prioritizes the health, safety, and welfare of all of those in our care in custody, including LGBTI individuals. (6/)
“I’ve been in love with this whole movement…this new movement of Mexican music. I think it’s beatiful what is happening. It’s very nececessary cause the world need it…the world needs to know about more cultures, about Latin cultures…”. — Bad Bunny for Apple Music. 🇲🇽
In El Salvador when peasants revolted against the fascist government in the 80s, they were called terrorists. Reagan gave El Salvador a million dollars a day for a decade to kill Salvadoran revolutionaries. The most military aid to a country from the U.S., SECOND ONLY TO ISRAEL.
Did you know Palestinians have been in El Salvador for over 100 years? My latest is a love letter to Palestine, El Salvador and their intertwined struggles against imperialism.
February 23, 1994. Selena chose El Salvador for her world premiere of her hit song “Amor Prohibido.” The flags are interesting, it was just two years after the war ended. El Salvador loves Selena.

Guatemalan asylum seeker Hermelindo Che Coc separated from his 6-yr-old son fears being deported alone. His son is detained in NY & they have limited phone contact. “When I spoke to my son Monday, he cried. Papa, you don’t love me anymore. How come you haven’t called me?”
Today is the 38th anniversary of the El Mozote massacre in El Salvador.
1,000 people, mostly women and children, were killed by US-trained troops. They used scorched earth tactics, like those the US did to Native Americans. I did this piece last year:
My momma literally ate on banana leaves as a little girl (50s-60s) before US capitalism tightened its vice grip on El Salvador and plastic disposable everything came in w/ “development.”
The town of Juchitan, Oaxaca in Mexico has an annual pageant celebrating Muxes, people of a third gender rooted in the Indigenous Zapotec tradition. My latest:
It’s not racist for Central Americans to call out Mexicans and their xenophobia that kills and deports our relatives. This is not solidarity. You’re disappointing.
How the fuck are you going to be “Anti-racist” & then go and say some racist shit about Mexicans? You’re not helping any cause what so ever. Open your fucking hearts man.
Translation: " 'Your lives don't matter to us here,' a Mexican official to an Honduran migrant."
This is what we're talking about Mexican xenophobia is deadly to Central Americans. It makes people turn a blind eye to stories like this. Thousands of migrants disappear in Mexico.
Jenny 69 was a 24 month long sociological experiment conducted by University of California Riverside. The study is now complete, thank you for your time.
I was aggressively recruited by the military because of my socioeconomic background. They called me every other week when I was 17 and I said no. This was 4 years into the invasion of Iraq. You can still say no.
If I or my loved ones end up like andres gardado or vanessa guillen you don’t have the permission to use that death to put down, question, compare or distract from BLM. NB latinxs don’t want liberation they want to be white americans.
Wasn’t there a study recently that determined white people treat politics as an abstraction because they’ll be okay either way it goes in this country so they’re “calm” in debates. Meanwhile the rest of us, our actual lives are at stake?
This is a perfect example:
People in 📍San Salvador, El Salvador protest the new

law.
El Salvador became the first country to adopt the cryptocurrency as legal tender today.
Ppl assume if you’re latinx you have a big family but this holiday highlights more than any there how displaced and uprooted we are from home and a larger community.
The Mexican govt is setting Central and South American migrants on fire, many likely Indigenous, and people don't want to address that Mexico is as xenophobic and racist as the U.S.
My mom in California has a chicken coop that she has always refused to part ways with ... guess who has eggs when there's a shortage and giving to the community ayy immigrant mothers
The way those soldiers in Portland are kidnapping dissidents is evocative of how the death squads kidnapped and killed my uncle in El Salvador for labor organizing.
Americans, with your subsidized chiquita bananas, Starbucks coffee, and cheap labor by way of U.S. intervention in Central America not only OWE these tear gassed people asylum but also REPARATIONS.
The forced sterilization at ICE facilities is unfortunately the natural progression everyone warned about when everyone made the connection to them and concentration camps a few years back
Yes On My Block is corny and not all real pero like it’s the only fictionalized show I can think of that mirrors my working class Latinx Southern California upbringing and we deserve corny fictionalizations too.
According to friends in LA, the young man
#AndresGuardado
who was killed by LAPD was Salvadoran. Lots of social media posts are erasing him and calling him Mex/Chicano.
Big screen tvs in the migrant caravan shelter Piedras Negras... Internet access for everyone ... cell phones galore for open communication with the world...pretty nice for such a camp
Here's my latest video on one of El Salvador's biggest scars - the El Mozote massacre. It's the largest single massacre in modern Latin American history. And almost 40 years later, people are still seeking justice:
A Honduran migrant on the Mexico-Guatemala bridge talking to Mexican National Guard: “you think the gringos are gonna love you for doing this work? They hate all of us, Central Americans and Mexicans”
Guatemala, a majority Indigenous nation, is having a national strike right now protesting the govt for trying to overturn a presidential election that favored the left Semilla party.

For balance: here’s a village in ✨southern✨ Mexico that provided solidarity and mutual aid to the Central American caravan. 🇲🇽 ❤️ 🇭🇳 🇸🇻 🇬🇹 🇧🇿🇳🇮 🇨🇷 🇵🇦☺️😉
Here's my latest piece for

: we talked to these elder from the town of Pijijiapa, Chiapas in Southern Mexico. They're taking it up upon themselves to welcome and aid Central American refugees on the exodus/caravan. This is solidarity.
New: Video obtained by ProPublica shows the Border Patrol held a sick teen in a concrete cell without proper medical attention and did not discover his body until his cellmate alerted guards. The video doesn’t match the Border Patrol's account of his death.
