NOW: Columbia University faculty link arms and form a wall in front of the entrance to the ‘Gaza Solidarity Encampment’ as hundreds of students encircle the both lawns

It is now 1 AM here in NYC and protesters are still outside the main gates of Columbia University, chanting and dancing — around 10 hours after the protest began
21 hours later, Columbia students are still occupying the lawn in front of Butler Library
NOW: A massive crowd — at least 3-4 blocks long — is now marching to Gracie Mansion, the official mayoral residence.
The crowd is so large that the end of the march isn’t visible from the front
NOW: Protesters have marched to 1 Police Plaza from NYU following the mass arrests of students and faculty at the ‘Liberated Zone’
This is by far the biggest jail support crowd I’ve seen — looks to be at least 300 people, spilling out into the street
NOW: Protesters rush into Penn Station to take the train to Columbia University
Most of the marchers were blocked from entering the station by police, but around 20-30 protesters managed to get inside

The march is proceeding at a fast pace and is changing directions at nearly every turn, effectively foiling police efforts to block the march with barricades
NOW: The situation at NYU is rapidly escalating — protesters attempted to march alongside the buses and rushed into another intersection
Massive numbers of officers running though the streets, one person was pepper sprayed
Protest has splintered into smaller groups
This morning, dozens of people gathered at Stonewall National Monument to pray for the people of Palestine.
Organizers spoke of the need for Palestinian liberation as well as liberation for all queer people & pushed back against the ‘pinkwashing’ of the conflict.

I highly doubt NYPD will allow the march to actually reach Times Square, much like they did with the tree lighting.
NOW: Protesters are in Zuccotti Park, which they plan to occupy as a “no cop autonomous zone”
The group is currently paused for prayer, but it appears they are planning on staying as long as possible — there are dozens of boxes of pizzas

This is day 3 of both the student encampment and protests outside campus
Lamis Deek, a human rights attorney with the PAL Commission, said at a press conference outside the South African Mission to the UN:
“We are not speaking empty words, we are coming for all of you — everywhere, in every forum: legal, administrative, prosecutorial.”
An emergency vigil for Aaron Bushnell, the U.S. Air Force member who died after setting himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy while yelling “free Palestine!,” has been announced
The vigil will happen in front of the Army Recruitment Office in Times Square tomorrow
