was at Scapa Flow when she was torpedoed by a German submarine. 835 were killed that night or died later of their wounds.
The wreck is a designated war grave and every year Royal Navy divers place a White Ensign at her stern.

in 1919 HMY Iolaire sank at the entrance to Stornoway Harbour on the Isle of Lewis when it struck rocks just yards from shore. At least 201 out of the 283 people on board died. Most were Royal Navy Reservists returning home from WWI.

100 years ago, just 2 months after the end of the First World War, tragedy struck when Iolaire capsized off the shores of Stornoway taking the lives of over 200 men. This New Year's Day we remember all those affected by this tragic event.

Sadly, Bryan Shuggie Robertson passed away today. Not only was he a soldier with 40 Rgt and 105 Rgt - Royal Artillery, he was also a loyal supporter of Poppyscotland.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends, Bryan was a truly great man and will be sorely missed by many.
