#OnThisDay in 1939, #HMSRoyalOak was at Scapa Flow when she was torpedoed by a German submarine. 835 were killed that night or died later of their wounds. The wreck is a designated war grave and every year Royal Navy divers place a White Ensign at her stern. #LestWeForget

#OnThisDay in 1919 HMY Iolaire sank at the entrance to Stornoway Harbour on the Isle of Lewis when it struck rocks just yards from shore. At least 201 out of the 283 people on board died. Most were Royal Navy Reservists returning home from WWI. Today we remember. #LestWeForget

Sadly, Bryan Shuggie Robertson passed away today. Not only was he a soldier with 40 Rgt and 105 Rgt - Royal Artillery, he was also a loyal supporter of Poppyscotland. Our thoughts are with his family and friends, Bryan was a truly great man and will be sorely missed by many.

#OnThisDay in 1982, the Falklands War came to an end. After 74 days the conflict finally ended with the Argentine surrender. 255 British Servicemen, 3 Falkland Islanders and around 650 Argentine military personnel lost their lives in the battle. #LestWeForget

We are calling on pipers young and old to play Heroes of St Valery at 10am on Saturday 12th June 2021 from their doorsteps, or local war memorial, in honour of the men of the 51st Highland Division who fought and fell at St Valery. To register visit:

This year marks 100 yrs of the Poppy, our national symbol of Remembrance. Triple Paralympic medallist Stephen Clegg today unveiled a special-edition Poppy created to commemorate this, featuring 100 embossed in gold lettering across the petals. #Poppy100 #BehindThemAlways
