Let it be know that the

proposed: "Regulate use of artificial intelligence on MBA- covered projects: AI can’t write or rewrite literary material; can’t be used as source material; and MBA-covered material can’t be used to train AI." and the studios rejected the proposal.
The sheer audacity to raise your prices in the middle of a strike when you know you have nothing new in the pipeline and are claiming you can’t afford to pay writers or actors. Truly gross.
I love that the studios continue to think they’re going to break the WGA and SAG meanwhile more unions are being formed. Turns out treating your workers poorly isn’t a great strategy.
It’s strange that True Grit isn’t a more beloved Coen Bros movie. Bridges is incredible, Damon is such a chameleon that I forget it’s him and Hailee Steinfeld should’ve got an Oscar nomination. Every time I watch this I’m amazed by it all over again. Top Tier Coens. No question.
Ben Stiller’s directing career is fascinating. Reality Bites, Cable Guy, Zoolander, Tropic Thunder, Walter Mitty, Escape from Dannemora and Severance. Not to mention the projects he almost did. Even if they didn’t all work he’s a bolder filmmaker than we give him credit for.
Nothing compares to seeing a film projected on a giant screen with great sound. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t love movies. It’s meant to be a communal art. Every comedy is better with people laughing together or horror movies with screaming…or action movies or…
Negotiations update from the WGA shows just how broken and dysfunctional the AMPTP is. They must seriously negotiate or individual studios need to break away and make a deal. In short, we must stay united and not let them use disinformation to weaken our resolve.
#wgastrong
The strike is costing the studios approximately $30 million a day in lost output. Meaning in the 15 days the WGA has been on strike they’ve lost an estimated $450 million dollars aka almost exactly the amount we’re asking for in our contract for THREE YEARS.

I have a very strong feeling that Gavin is going to regret this decision. I’m sure he thinks people will have forgotten by 2027 when he’s running for president but I assure you, they won’t.
Just a reminder that as we’re disappointed by the shuffling of movie release dates, remember that the studios would rather ruin their fall schedule (and screw over theatre chains) than pay WGA/SAG what we’re owed. They’re hurting theatrical releases rather than make a deal.
It needs to be said that there’s a special place in hell for the studios that won’t pony up the cash for the original songs for library TV titles on streaming. Sure the generic music you put in is cheaper but it can ruin the shows. Yes I’m rewatching Felicity.

1999 I can honestly say her voice has always sounded like this and it’s one of the many reasons she’s a national treasure.
This is truly gross. Rian Johnson has been nothing but gracious and loving towards all things Star Wars (not to mention made a better movie than The Force Awakens) and yet he continues to get shit on by everyone to service a handful of loud shitty fanboys.
If you love Lily Gladstone in Killers of the Flower Moon (because she’s obviously incredible) you should watch Kelly Reichardt’s Certain Women. It’s a truly amazing film and her scenes with Kristen Stewart are absolutely wonderful. It’s currently streaming on
@criterionchannl
.
With every single film and TV series that gets rescheduled you have to ask yourself if the actors are so vital to the promotion and release of these movies and shows maybe the studios should pay them accordingly? Just a thought.

I just rewatched this and yes everyone loves The Holdovers but if we’re looking for wonderful movies that don’t get made anymore look no further than this one. I truly hope Rachel McAdams gets an Oscar nomination. It’s one of the most heartwarming performances I’ve seen in ages.
It’s absolutely mind boggling that it took Hollywood this long to put Jennifer Lawrence in a bonafide comedy. Don’t come at me with Silver Lining’s Playbook. Anyway, this movie is great and she’s truly hilarious in it. Go and see it in theatres so we get more theatrical comedies!
A few weeks ago on AFI Night we got into a discussion about Pan & Scan. Most of my friends didn’t know what it was. This made me feel old but also explaining it I can’t believe it was ever OK to chop off the side of a widescreen movies to make it fit square TVs.
“We don’t do television…” I can’t believe that anyone would do the whole “TV isn’t as cool as movies” nonsense in 2022. Also Amanda was in Veronica Mars.

It needs to be said that we landed on Mars today and The President of the United States had nothing to say about it. He doesn’t care about the future because he knows he won’t be a part of it.
Hey Deadline, SAG has made it clear they’re ready to negotiate. It’s the AMPTP that is cutting of their nose to spite their face. So let’s stop this “both sides” nonsense.
This Halloween you can see and hear what got this reaction from

Cinematic disasters Hollywood's greatest geniuses would love to forget--starring Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, David Fincher, and more.
LIST:
Yet again the AMPTP are breaking the press black out for their own gain. Until we hear from the WGA everything the AMPTP says should be considered spin.
Another thing we really need to do on the other side of the strike is get back to making tighter TV episodes. Streaming has allowed for episodes to be as long as the showrunners want and it’s hurting the shows. I promise you that most dramas don’t need to be more than 45-50 mins.
I’ve honestly been wanting to write a character like Delia since high school. This show is a mix of some of my favorite things: Beetlejuice, Reality Bites, ER and Six Feet Under. Thank you so much to Universal TV, NBC and Perfect Storm for getting on this ride with me.
NBC has put in development ‘Delia Graves And The Order Of Merlin’ a drama from ‘Sleepy Hollow’ co-creator Phillip Iscove, Justin Lin and his Perfect Storm Entertainment and Universal Television

I’ve gone out of my way to be incredibly cautious re: Covid. I’m double vaxxed / boosted. I upgraded to N95 masks and go to places that require proof of vaccination. All of this said I just tested positive for Covid. Omicron isn’t messing around. Be safe out there 💉😷
As some who’s definitely suffering from Marvel exhaustion (I haven’t watched most of the TV output or Antman 3) I have to say that
#TheMarvels
was a blast! The three leads are fantastic, especially Iman Velanni, it’s funny, weird, sweet and kicks ass. Go and see it!
Watching a little of The Last Jedi just now it's hard for me to articulate how much I hate that Ray is Palpatine's granddaughter. Hate is too weak a word. Despise. Loathe. Detest.
Blaming cancellations on the strikes is truly cowardly. Delays happen all the time. Missing "targeted release dates" happen constantly. If you're going to cancel a TV show have the spine to own it. Don't blame it on the strikes.

At tonight’s
#WGA
meeting committee member Chris Keyser told us AMPTP spokesperson Carol Lombardini said: “Writers are lucky to have term employment.” She said the quiet part out loud. The studios don’t respect the careers of writers. We have to make them.

Using the pandemic as a false equivalency to shooting your show during a strike doesn’t do anyone any favors. You can generate funds for your staff and crew in lots of ways that don’t involve crossing picket lines.

After six days of backlash, Drew Barrymore has uploaded this video responding to the news that she is bringing her talk show back during the writer’s strike.
She says the reason she's bringing her show back is she managed to do it during the pandemic, so she feels the strike…
Nothing like selling a TV pitch on the last day before the holidays. I'm beyond excited to write this pilot. I've honestly been wanting to write a version of this character since I was in high school. She’s my dream character aka Lydia Deetz meets Lisbeth Salander.
Disney+ is planning to introduce channels onto its service.
They will function the same as old-school TV channels with different channels for different genres like Marvel & Star Wars.

I know this isn’t a hot take or anything but I’m watching Game Night again and it really is one of the best comedies in the last few years. If you haven’t watched it. Watch it ASAP.

is a gorgeous and haunting tone poem with a utterly heartbreaking and transformative performance from Kristen Stewart at its core. I’ll never look at pea soup the same way again.
