Last year I've started collecting data in search of the best path to be a successful UFC fighter.
Does Contender Series produce good UFC fighters or are other established promotions' champions better?
Here's a chart with UFC wins for CS vs regional champions.

This is literally the entire

's professional mixed martial arts career.
I did not speed the video up and still could fit that in one single Twitter video.
Sharabutdin Magomedov makes his long-awaited UFC debut tomorrow.
So let's talk about that time he thought it was ok to assault a guy because he and the guy's girlfriend were kissing in public.
Last night during a DAZN Boxing event in Milan, Italy, Italian rapper Tony Effe started a brawl with Italian rapper and pro boxer Ion.
Tony's good friend and UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori stepped in and hammer punched Ion knocking him down.
Definitely not a good look for him.
TKO president Mark Shapiro declares UFC now one of the 4 major sports:
“UFC is now not only mainstream, but it’s one of the four majors. The ratings on ESPN and ESPN2, apples to apples against the NHL — even including the playoffs, we dwarf them”
So, this just happened in Russia.
A vlogger TKOs Aleksander Emelianenko, the ref steps in and stops the fight. But the vlogger says "Nah, why? Let's keep it on!", then shots and takedown and gets submitted?
Couldn't have been more fixed.

The lowest-paid NBA players make $1.1M
Pedro has been in the UFC since 2016 and is still struggling this much.
I'm not calling for NBA money, of course. I just want fighters to be at least financially stable.
"With the (tax) deductions and the loss of the fight tonight, I'm probably going to have to rob someone in the car park. ... Who's got the most on them?"
Tyson Pedro opens up about financial challenges following his
#UFCVegas87
retirement.
Native English speakers should really get off their high horse when someone try to speak their language.
I can assure you, we wish we don't sound stupid when talking English, but it's really hard.
Also, I don't get a single word of the scouse accent.
Per
@thephuketnews
, UFC fighter Khusein Askhabov and his twin brother have been arrested in Thailand along with three other men for allegedly forcing their way into an Italian man's house, robbing, kidnapping and torturing him.
More:
Per sources, a featherweight scrap between Charles Jourdain and Nathaniel Wood has been booked for
#UFCParis
which takes places next month, on September 3.
Reading the comments makes my head hurt. People praising him/the UFC but it's him/UFC who banned the flags in the first place, not the fans.
UFC fans are truly special.
BREAKING: It seems that UFC is investing big in Europe as I'm hearing an event in Paris, France is slated for later this year, on September 3.
No confirmation yet, but that's the promotion's plan, I'm told.
Apparently Conor McGregor beat up a well-known Italian singer, DJ Francesco, at a party in Rome, the latter's wife stated on her social media.
She said that thought it was all joke, a show, at first, but then she saw her husband bleeding and McGregor being held against the wall.
A stat in support of the theory that Marvin Vettori is made of cement.
Most Significant strikes absorbed among current fighters without suffering a KO/TKO loss in the UFC.
France's own superstar Morgan Charrière will lock horns with German Max Coga on Sept 26 in Manchester for Cage Warriors featherweight gold.
The Frenchman is arguably the most followed European fighter not signed to the UFC. Just look at the likes in the pic below.
In case it needed any more confirmations, Marvin Vettori is actually at Xtreme Couture, training for his next fight against Roman Dolidze... who trains at Xtreme Couture as well.
My wife be like: "you have plans for tonight?"
"Yeah, watching UFC?"
"Again? You watched it last night"
"That was Bellator"
"What's that?"
"MMA"
"Oh. You watched it on Thursday"
"That was PFL"
"What about Wedn—"
"Brave"
"Yeah but—"
"Some Greek show"
"F— you. I want the divorce"
Per Marvin Vettori's fitness coach, "The Italian Dream" will now lock horns with Brazilian legend Jacaré Souza on December 12, at UFC 256.

Alexsandre Topuria, brother of UFC featherweight Ilia Topuria, improved his professional MMA record to 5-1 (3 T/KOs, 2 submissions) this weekend, as he collected another W in Spain, at WOW 9.
Here's all of his finishes. 🧵
Do you want to enter a closed community and get the chance to meet with me? The new crypto product that I am creating in collaboration with the GMT project will be your pass. I'll tell you all the details soon:
The only man who has been able to knock out Israel Adesanya is about to make his UFC debut, as Alex Pereira locks horns with Andreas Michailidis in a 185-pound clash, multiple sources informed me.
The fight will take place at UFC 268, on November 6.

An all-Brit featherweight showdown is in the works for
#UFC286
, as Manchester's own Lerone Murphy (11-0-1) is set to face a fellow Englishman in Nathaniel Wood (19-5).
The fight is not finalized yet, but the promotion is working to book it for March 18, in London, England.
Guys, guys, guys. Wait a minute.
I hate to see thesre pics as much as anyone else, but you got to understand that they can't refuse to do this, they have family in Chechn— oh, wait.
Former UFC champs Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, along with Justin Gaethje, are all currently in Chechnya at the invitation of the republic's warlord Ramzan Kadyrov.
Here they are testing out guns at a special forces facility in Gudermes.
Tom Aspinall x Alexander Volkov
Jack Shore x Timur Valiev
Paddy Pimblett x Rodrigo Vargas
Molly McCann x Luana Carolina
Cory McKenna x Elise Reed
Jake Hadley x Allan Nascimento
Nathaniel Wood x Liudvik Sholinian
Cage Warriors London card is shaping up pretty nicel— oh, wait.
I don't wanna pile sh*t on anyone involved in this story, but this just shows and confirms how MMA *journalism* is pretty much non existent. 99% of it is just PR.
Finally ran into the bitch Mike Jackson
He quickly discovered the difference between calling people Nazis In person vs on Twitter
This racist is lucky so many people were there to save his pathetic racist ass
Nah, f*ck them fans.
I've been following the sport for almost two decades now, and I think we're going through the worst fanbase, to date.
Or probably, back in the day, social media weren't too mainstream, so idiots were shouting their useless takes to the void.
One of the best to ever do it, yet one of the most underrated fighters by the younger fans.
The man who made me fall in love with the sport of mixed martial arts.
BJ Penn.
Here are all of his finishes.

"Media members mocked us! 😭"
*Proceeds to show clips of random youtubers and screenshot from anonymous accounts from social media, and out of context clips of people talking about the main event not being enough for such historical card*
It's not the flex you think, Dana.
UPDATE: multiple sources confirmed to me that next UFC UK takes place on July 23 (already reported by
@niallmcgrath4
), but in London.
Also, but take this with a grain of salt, above-mentioned gig could be headlined by Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards, if everything goes as planned.
Paul Hughes & Salahdine Parnasse
Tonight both men fought out of their contracts with CW and KSW. Didn't let their opponents get out of the first round.
Don't f*ck this up UFC. You have at least 2 upcoming cards in Europe.
Hughes vs Charrière 2 in Paris would be something else.
Following what happened last night between a well-known reporter and a UFC debutant, it's pretty obvious that most MMA fans don't have a single clue about how MMA reporting works.
Let me break this one down for you, then.
A thread:
PFL owns Bellator, now, I'm told. They're taking over from 2024.
As I've already reported, the plan is to run the Bellator brand for the next two years.
Unfortunately, it's true.
As confirmed by
@MrTudorLeonte
, Italian MMA fighter Iuri Lapicus is dead after a motorcycle crash.
Iuri was 27, had 14-2-1 NC record, and competed under the ONE banner, where he faced legends in the likes of
@Ealvarezfight
and
@ChristianLeeMMA
.
RIP.
My biggest project of 2023 was answering the question "do Contender Series alumni perform better than regional promotions/non-UFC champions?"
It almost started as a joke to dunk on some random Twitter user who was talking crap to Cage Warriors champions, but it quickly became…
UPDATE: Just got another txt message confirming ‘PFL is buying Bellator’. Apparently, it's happening right now. I'd say we're actually very close to an official announcement, now.
Also, trying to understand how it's gonna play out, I'm hearing there will be two different leagues.
Rumors about PFL (not) buying Bellator are wildly circulating during these hours, so I thought it could be a good idea to ask around.
Take it with a grain of salt, but multiple trusted sources today told me “It’s a done deal”.
I guess we can just wait and see.
MMA became legal in France in January 2020. In just 4 years it became one of the biggest hotbeds in Europe, having a staple promotion in ARES, and 11 fighters in the UFC:
C. Gane
B. Saint Denis
M. Fiorot
F. Ziam
T. Lapilus
K. Jousset
W. Gomis
M. Charriere
N. Cornolle
Y. Ghemmouri
Active Georgian UFC fighters' records in the promotion:
Ilia Topuria 7-0 🏆
Merab Dvalishvili 10-2
Roman Dolidze 6-3
Giga Chikadze 8-1
Guram Kutateladze 1-2
Total 32-8
Percentage 80%
Not bad for a 3,7M-population country.
Following an initial report by
@MMArena_
, I've been able to confirm that a massive all-France fight between Cédric Doumbé and Baissangour "Baki" Chamsoudinov is set for
#PFLParis
, on March 6.
As already hinted by
@arielhelwani
, it seems the PFL x Bellator: Champions vs Champions event could actually go on in Saudi Arabia, on February 24. The event will be a PPV.
One fight I've been able to confirm with multiple sources is Patricio Pitbull vs Jesus Pinedo.
Per sources, the following fights have been added to the UFC September 4 card:
Marcel Dorff x Paddy Pimblett
Graham Boylan x Jason House
Ariel Helwani x Guilherme Cruiz
