Genuinely humbled and astonished by how my tweet has gone viral. Normally I get about 10 or 20 views, mostly from colleagues. I'm just trying to explain - I've provided no solutions. But sorting social care would be a good start.

First time Iโve been able to fully understood the whole picture in one go, in just a few minutes, from someone on the inside. Has the inability to recruit as easily from outside the UK made things much worse recently (the B word) in your view?
@TikkaTemple
Almost certainly. I didn't mention Brexit but I'm quite certain it will have made the situation worse. Difficult to quantify though from a subjective position.

A superb tweet. Also, as a PSC patient it is lovely to read in your bio: โinterests liver disease and ERCPโ. Thanks for all you do and please donโt retire any time soon!
@peteneville65
Well said Peter . Increasing life expectancy skewing the demographics,expensive tests&treatments,high patient expectations and disillusioned staff ,all contributing to the decline. I think sooner or later we will have to change to something similar to the Australian system.
@peteneville65
Ah I feel for you guys. Itโs not just anything, itโs life or death. I salute you for the work you do, I know itโs not enough but I do it anyway. I would love to see a return to community solutions, I do family group conferences for children on the edge of care cont:
@peteneville65
I am looking to do community family group conferences. I know that communities come together and help where they can and the elderly deserve respect. How can we not provide even basic services to our elders, those who should be respected for their wisdom and once were, not okay!
@peteneville65
Delighted it is viral. You have analysed and explained the problems brilliantly - why not you're in it as against politicians. This analysis of the problems provides a starting point for finding solutions - IF politicians are prepared to work through your thread issue by issue
@peteneville65
The starting point for improvements would be a common understanding of how we got to this position. To the extent you have added to that common understanding you have helped. Thank you.
@peteneville65
Think you def now need to devote time to giving us some solutions. It seems that all the BMA etc do is moan but never offer practical ideas. Sorting out the pensions issue would be an easy starting point to stop the drain of consultants. Why not go for the German funding model?
@peteneville65
You are spot on! Social care is one of the key issues. I liken it to CCF when something in th heart goes wrong it causes congestion everywhere. Too many frail people sent into hospital and should be looked after at home
