I’ve said before that I believe Pry is the guy to get us right. Just listen to his latest interview with TSL. He gets it, he gets every aspect of what he needs to do to turn it around. If you’ve been a fan through the last half decade of crap, giving up now would be a mistake.
Top 15 recruits from Virginia, according to the composite, in the 2023 class:
PennState - 6
Virginia Tech - 0
2024 class:
PennState - 0
Virginia Tech - 4
No conference titles since 2010; haven’t played for one in 6 yeas. 3 straight losing seasons. A 3-8 season last year. Doesn’t matter, VT still selling out Lane against unranked teams. I love this fanbase, best in the country.

Brent Pry:
VA recruiting ties ✅
Worked for a dogged recruiter ✅
Worked at a historic powerhouse ✅
Worked at Virginia Tech ✅
Top 25 defenses every year ✅
Looks like your uncle ✅
Dude talked about drinking with JC Price on Bourbon Street ffs. Give him anything he wants, deed to the drill field, Commonwealth Cup as his personal coffee mug, hell, give him the keys to TOTS! I don’t care. He killed it.
Y’all can think what you want, but 5 wins in year 2 of a HC, who inherited a mess, where we:
1) pulled elite talent out of the portal
2) found a QB
3) beat the crap out of inferior competition
AND
4) are still repairing relationships across the state…
Is NOT a failure.
Couldn’t sleep, watching the ACC Network’s Road Trip at VT. First of all, Pry is fantastic on TV - gregarious, passionate, and most importantly, he seems authentic. Second, JC’s shirt:
We’re the weirdest 5-2 ever. 2 FCS wins, 2 ACC wins. A 6 OT win using 3 QBs. Slaughtered by Duke who got slaughtered by UVA who lost to Miami who we beat and who lost to GT 🤷🏻♂️
Big news for the Hokies! 4-star LB Bubba Chainsaw (6’1”, 245 lbs) commits to VT in a NSD surprise. P5s came calling after some footage of him spearing tackling dummies so hard they exploded went viral. Chainsaw on his signing, “Blacksburg already feels like home for some reason.”
No Hooker, no King, no Pollard, no Bradburn. Started a redshirt freshman who was our 3rd-string QB a month ago. Multiple bad calls and an ejection of our starting CB. All of that and we lost by one stupid point in South Bend. As painful as it was, it was still very impressive.
In the face of a ton of criticism, Tyler Bowen delivered a game plan that yielded 427 yards against a Pitt defense. 15 of our 25 first downs came on run plays, and Drones complimented the rush with a terrific passing performance. 5 TDs for QB1! An encouraging night for our O 👏🏼
Did I think we’d be 3-2 after 5 games before the season? Yes. Did I think it would be two excruciatingly soul-crushing losses due to coaching failures? Also yes.
I’m a broken record, but whatever… Our HC is 2-13 in his last 15 games when spread is within 3 points. That’s inexcusable ineptitude. By default, you should win about half of those games. A third would raise eyebrows. But a .133 record in toss ups?! Get him off my campus.
It’s not recruiting.
It’s not development.
It’s not roster management.
It’s not play-calling.
It’s not execution.
It’s not situational decisions.
It’s all of it. And it all falls on the shoulders of the head coach. These losses will continue to pile up until he’s gone.
To counter the recent negativity on the TL, here’s what VT added this offseason:
-composite 4-star QB
-2 top-25 WRs in yards/game in ‘22
-top-25 PR in return average
-top-30 CB in PBU/game in ‘22
-FCS All-American LB
-FCS All-American RB
-no. 1 JUCO DE

, let’s take a moment to appreciate the fact that Saban didn’t do the Coach K victory lap. ESPN would have had a field day with him retiring all season and he didn’t put us through that. Thank you, Coach.
VT allowed less than 4 yards per play on Friday night (3.6 ypp). That feat had only been accomplished by the Hokies 3 times in the previous FIFTY GAMES - all in 2019.
Pry knows how to coach defense. We will have to hang our hat on that unit this season.
Whit has done so much good for VT, but playing at ODU and at Liberty in the same season is an egregious violation of good sense. We should really never play AT either of those schools, let alone both in one year. We gotta be done doing this small time program BS. Just my opinion.
The 2020 Hokies had:
-The most all purpose yards in the country at RB
-The best left tackle in the conference
-Three four-star QBs
-44 Juniors and Seniors
And they went 5-6.
Like what are we even debating here? I can’t believe people are still making excuses for this staff.
UVA football has 13 high school recruits signed to their class of 2024. The highest rated player is a .8672 in the 247 composite.
Virginia Tech signed 13 HS players with a higher rating than UVA’s highest rated recruit.
The first week of 2022 for the Hokies:
-Hired Michael Hazel as Asst. AD
-Hired OL coach Joe Rudolph
-Silas Dzansi coming back
-Two solid transfer QBs
-1000 yard WR transfer
The program finally has some real momentum. Can’t wait for what’s next! 👏🏼🦃🏈
An Under Armor All-American 2024 QB committed to the Hokies yesterday. Despite one Hokie podcaster unnecessarily tearing it down, this was GREAT news (offer list is insane), and more importantly it validates the change we’ve been hearing about regarding VT’s HS recruiting efforts
According to 2021 salary numbers, VT’s Joe Rudolph would be 4th highest paid OL coach in the nation. The narrative that we can’t pay competitive assistant salaries is over.
Under Fuente we have:
Lost to ODU
Lost to Liberty
Lost the UVA streak
Lost the winning season streak
Lost the Bowl streak
…and now he’s trying to lose the scoring streak as well…
Can he pull off the impossible?! Stay tuned to find out
Tyler Bowen has now been the lead recruiter for:
QB Kyron Drones - 4⭐️ transfer
QB Pop Watson - .871 comp; Neb flip, UT, Mich offers
QB Davi Belfort - .888 comp; Bama, UGA, FSU, Mich, PSU offers
All committed in the last 4 months. Let him coach wherever he wants.
For anyone clowning on VT being one of the Magnificent 7, here are the number of 10-win football seasons over the past 40 years:
FSU - 22
Clemson - 16
Miami - 15
VT - 14
UNC - 4
NC State - 1
UVA - 1
Syracuse - 6
Louisville - 6
GT - 4
BC - 3
Pitt - 2
Wake - 2
Duke - 1
Clemson, FSU, Miami, UNC, NC State, Virginia & Virginia Tech are “The Magnificent 7” ACC schools, sources told
@ActionNetworkHQ
. These schools,
@RossDellenger
reported, have met in past several months, w/lawyers examining grant-of-rights to determine just how unbreakable it is.
VT’s 2012 recruiting class had 20 commits from the state of Virginia. TWENTY. 17 more VA guys in 2013. 15 in 2014.
The 2020 class had 1 kid from VA.
With Pry and his staff already gaining 9 in-state commitments for 2023, it’s clear the emphasis on VA recruiting is back 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Not having a real spring game under Fuente was a tremendous missed opportunity. It boggles the mind how that was allowed to happen. We saw what it can do for a program and a fanbase this weekend. I’m glad Whit has finally corrected the mistake; it certainly took long enough.
These are the number of top-1000 recruits in each of VT’s last 5 classes (247 composite):
2020: 3 of 16 commits - 19%
2021: 13 of 28 - 46%
2022: 15 of 23 - 65%
2023: 15 of 27 - 56%
2024: 12 of 15 - 80%!
Recruiting has up-ticked substantially if you weren’t aware
This is frustrating, but I’m glad Pry actually sees value in recruiting the state. It’s not rocket science - no need to rethink basic strategies: hammer the 6 hour radius, take a few shots in NJ, PA, GA, FL, OH.
According to the 247 composite, Gabriel Williams is the highest ranked recruit to commit to the Hokies since Doug Nester on 2/6/2019. That’s almost 4.5 years ago. We’re finally digging our way out of the hole.
Virginia Tech Head Football Coach is a fantastic job and I will fight anyone who thinks otherwise. Fuente has brainwashed people into thinking it’s borderline G5. Fuck all of that. A good coach who engages the fanbase and doesn’t make excuses will be rolling in 3 years or less.
Virginia Tech men’s basketball is no. 28 in the KenPom rankings.
There have only been THREE top-30 KenPom teams that have failed to be selected for the NCAA tournament since 2014 (7 tournaments). Three out of a possible 208 teams - 2 teams were ineligible.
It’s hard, but as die-hard Hokies we need to separate the two:
1) Tonight sucked, we had a chance to play for the ‘ship and we fell flat
2) We made the Final 4 for the 1st time and get to hang a banner in Cassell forever
No moral victory; season is a straight up huge W for VT
After Frank’s last UVA win, if someone had told you, “by the end of 2020, the UVA streak will be snapped, the Bowl streak will be snapped, VT will have consecutive sub-40 recruiting classes, and VT will have lost to ODU and Liberty,” you would have thought we made Loeffler HC.
Impressing on national TV was MUCH needed for this program. Three seasons of losses at home and ESPN blowouts have hurt our image, but Lane is still as great as it ever was. We are blessed to own that environment. The legend grew last night and I am basking in it.
People bitched about losing position coaches, now they’re bitching about moving Bowen to QBs. We just stole a respected RB coach from a recruiting hotbed out of the richest conf in CFB and grabbed a coach who led a playoff OL under Fickell. Be happy it’s not Corn, ya fuks😂
Class of 2024 Virginia Tech Safety commit Quentin Reddish has been updated to a 4 star recruit per On3!!! 🦃🦃
Reddish has been committed to the Hokies since June of 2023.

10/1: VT lost to a ranked ACC team in North Carolina by 31 points
10/27: VT lost to a ranked ACC team in North Carolina by 1 point
Last night sucked, but I’d still call it progress. Fairly quick progress.
The 247 rankings have been adjusted to account for the Rivals upgrades. Our average recruit rating moved up to 87.89, and Reddish is now a top 1000 recruit. Meaning 10 of our 11 commits are now top 1000. Super impressive.
Ahead of Clemson (and Dabo), UNC (and cryin Mack and Maye), Duke (and Elko), and Miami (and $80 million dollar Mario). I know the schedules are unbalanced and I don’t care. Buy all the VT stock you can📈
