Today has arrived! After work I’ll be catching a train to Edale to live my dream of walking the

A dream which has been gently fermenting for the last 40 years and it’s now pretty fizzy.
Just me, the trail and

So we are still cheating this season. We’ve earned points while still breaking the salary cap. And now we are bleating about other clubs having an agenda in not allowing us time to get under the cap? Shameful. I preferred it when we were poor but honest.

The Pennine Way is in the bag 😊 Just like that and it’s done. Thank you all for joining me 🍺 I’ve been carrying a mystery gift since Hadrian’s Wall from the lovely
@RaymondPurvis
with instructions not to open until the end. Look 👀 I love it ❤️ A wonderful reminder of my walk.
And just like that it was done, down off the coast path to be greeted warmly by my new Black Sail buddies and straight into the sea. Thank you all so much for your support, encouragement, love and laughs xx
What a night at Black Sail. And what a glorious early morning too. An experience I will never forget and a highlight of the most incredible journey. Onwards now all the way to St Bees. Have made it passed Ennerdale Bridge and think I may have just seen my first glimpse of sea 😍
Lost for words today. I had some options but chose the gentle Grisedale route, so glad I did, it was stunning. I was met by a new friend at the Tarn and we walked together, she pointed out the fells and we chatted like old friends. And then went to the pub. Perfect ❤️
Grateful shout out to the
@waitrose
delivery driver who intercepted my mum this morning in Northampton when she set off for a wander in her nightie in the rain. Dementia is an arse but thank goodness for lovely people who recognise a vulnerable person ❤️ 🙏
Good morning from Windy Gyle! Every day for the last 17 days I’ve found it hard to believe I’m doing this. Today, my last day, I’m finding it hard to believe it’s nearly over. I think I’m going to cry all day, I’ve been filled with love and joy and it’s leaking out of my eyes 😂
A very good morning to you from day 10 on the Coast to Coast path. Gently climbing out of Patterdale ready to take my time on a slow bimble to Grasmere. It is a glorious day ☀️
Greg’s Hut on the Pennine Way. Just wow. Feeling more than a little emotional thinking about all the people who have passed through here. What a magical, wonderful place. I’d like to move in 😍
Oh my days ........ don't let me leave this beautiful place. I just want to lie in the heather and listen to nothing but the heavy breathing of all the passing walkers.
Am in heaven ❤️☀️😁
Day 1 on the Pennine Way has been everything I hoped for and more. I am flipping starving, I could eat an elephant 😂😂
16.5 miles in the bag and loved every little one of them
Finally on my way! Have walked the 6km up the coast from Robin Hoods Bay and it is now time to turn my back on the sea and head to the moors. 25km to go on what I knew was going to be a tough first day even before the delayed start. So good to be walking! Xx
Lying in bed at this lovely B&B contemplating day 2 of my Coast to Coast walk and thinking how lucky I am and also how lovely windows are. Look at this beauty 😍
The pack seems smaller and lighter than last time which probably means I've forgotten something really important. First stop on today's logistical challenge will be Penrith.
Correction, first stop pick up
@sarah_dentonn
A day of train rides ahead. Toot toot!
Photos just can’t do it justice, and yes that is a little tear on my cheek. High Cup Nick on the Pennine Way. Day 10 is done and I am broken! Where’s my beer?!
Two more Wainwrights ticked off today, Base Brown (646m) and Green Gable (801m) followed by a stop at Windy Gap 💨 and a slide down Aaron Slack to pick up the Seathwaite path. Very good. Now slumped in the Langstrath Country Inn with a couple celebratory pints of Wainwright ✔️✔️
My mum has refused to get out of bed for the last 2 days, she wasnt unwell, just didn't want to get up. I've been so worried. This evening I unleashed my secret weapon and took Lola round. Never underestimate the power of the puppy ❤️🐾
I don’t mind admitting that I have a few tears in my eyes as I hop over the stile at Rapishaw Gap and leave Hadrian’s Wall behind. Time to get out the fig rolls kindly donated by
@RaymondPurvis
and have a quick brew while I gather my thoughts before heading onwards
Bit behind with my washing so thought I’d take advantage of the beautiful sunny day while having my lunch. Gearing up for this afternoon’s fun on Fountains Fell and Pen-y-Ghent. Have I mentioned I’m quite enjoying myself?!
And the runaway winner of the “best day on the Pennine Way so far” award goes to …. Day 11 (Dufton to Garrigill). Wow, what a blinder! A wonderful descent from Cross Fell this afternoon, sauntered my way down the Corpse Road feeling incredibly thankful to be alive 😁
Happy Birthday scones for me, 51 today 😳😳 Celebrating with a little reminder of the coast to coast path over Honister from this summer. What a wonderful walk that was. Love the north 😁❤️
Have you ever had a day that you just don’t want to end? Absolute perfection on the Pennine Way through the Yorkshire Dales. I am SO loving this trail. Met some wonderful people and have some treasured moments now in my memories. Day 6 - you’ve been flipping fabulous
When in doubt, make Victoria Sponge and fill it with the juiciest fruitiest jam and the freshest thick cream and sprinkle fairy dust liberally 😋😋
Cake for my lovely eldest who is 23 today, unbelievable 🥳🥳
Reflecting on a journey so far ... 3 days walking out of 12 planned, 55 miles out of the 190 total coast to coast. Will definitely be back to visit North Yorkshire, incredible landscape, wonderful people, great beer and marvellous tea. A long day ahead, westwards to Brompton ☀️❤️
Excited for today! The sun is shining and I have Malham cove, Malham tarn, Fountains Fell and Pen-y-Ghent for company. Day 6 on the Pennine Way …. I love you already ☀️❤️
Booked a night at Black Sail YHA, in advance of a possible long walk this summer. They are only doing rooms, not individual dorm beds currently so I have a dorm for 4 booked 🤣
Anyone fancy a walk and a night in a remote hostel.....?
Day 13 on the Pennine Way. Unlucky for some but lucky for me. A great stopover with Colin and Norma at Fell View B&B in Slaggyford AND a wonderful day ahead - I’ll get to walk on two
@NationalTrails
today 😁
Good morning!! It’s day 16 on the Pennine Way and after a mighty hearty breakfast I am on my way up to the border ridge. There’s a bit of moistness in the air, but that might just be me 😆
Looking forward to a few days of walking ahead. Starting point Ravenglass on the Cumbrian coast and a roast tattie at The Ratty Arms for supper. Absolutely glorious skies this evening, hoping for some reasonable weather 😎
While I was away on the Pennine Way I sent a daily
@Thefunkypigeon
postcard to my mum. Great way to stay in touch and send reassurance to folk who aren’t able to use tech. She usually relies on me popping in every day so it was tough for her not seeing me. Next best thing 😊
If there's one thing better than the Friday feeling, it's the Friday feeling when you're heading north for the weekend to test out your navigational, cheese eating and beer swilling skills
#wensleydale
Today and the next 3 days have and will take me through an area I’m totally unfamiliar with. Never walked here, never visited, never even driven through apart from across the A66. A huge void and one that I am excited to explore 😁 I like it upon the Pennine Way, it’s very nice
Cauldron Snout. Oh my flipping wotsit. I don’t remember reading anywhere that I’d be climbing go up a sheer vertical rock face on this national trail! The Pennine Way’s best surprise?!
When someone provides you with home baked goods that makes you emit sounds that can only be apologised for. There was no hanky panky on the way up Honistor, it was just me appreciating cake
I pondered about doing a quick up and back to the Cheviot summit. Everyone I spoke to advised against it as apparently the views aren’t great. But you know …. I’ve got nothing else to do on this day I don’t want to end so here I am! Time to get the waterproofs out I think 🤔
This is where I’ve been wanting to get to. And it is beautiful. And I have a spare hour and a half now so that’ll be lunch and a snooze in the sunshine. I feel like the luckiest person alive. Isn’t this place just wonderful 😊
Had a smashing weekend in the Lake District, staying at Seathwaite and exploring the area on foot from the campsite. Seathwaite Fell, Sour Milk Gill, Base Brown (almost), Grey Knotts (the summit, not my hair), Ruddy Gill, Allen Crags, pub in Stonethwaite. Windy but wonderful 🙂
The first 20 miles of the C2C E2W are in the bag. Level 1 complete. Boom diggerty boom. What a corker of a first day of walking.
Thank you for coming along, I hope you'll stay a little longer, your encouragement and good humour is greatly appreciated ☀️😁❤️
Good morning and it’s day 14 on the Pennine Way! Delighted to stumble into head brewer Matt from
@TwiceBrewHouse
as I set off this morning. If you haven’t tried his beer why on earth not?! It’s fabulous and gives you special powers 💪
Off to Bellingham today, who’s with me? 🥾☀️
Any other parents out there searching

on twitter just to check out how everyone found it so you know exactly how much cake you're going to have to make for your child tonight ......?
Day 5 on the Pennine Way and I’m not entirely sure what to say 😍
It’s been a wonderful walk so far but there’s something very comfortable about being in the
@yorkshire_dales
national park, the second National Park I’ll walk through.
My bed tonight is in beautiful Malham 😴
It is a colleague's birthday this week and he is an ace person to work with so I made him a

Chocolate Guinness cake last night, doubled up the ingredients to make Chocolate Guinness muffins too. It is a great recipe, highly recommended 🍀
Sometimes it can feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders.
Other times you can feel as chilled as anything yet you have a whole mountain balanced on your head.
