Bengal doesn’t officially have a govt right now, despite that, hundreds of officers at the health & home department are working round the clock, ensuring registration, updating admissions, expanding hospital capacity, creating helplines.
Bengal has a population of around 9 crore. It's testing 55000 at max. The positivity rate is 30%. Compare this with Maharashtra with 2.5 lakh test and Delhi with over 1 lakh test for 2 crore population. The number is staggering.
Having dealt with this hands on, Got to admit, Both public and private hospitals have been responsive under constraints. Testing also depends on people’s intent to get tested. Force testing is beyond the capacity that the situation is affording anyone , we know that right?
I’m sure there’s room for betterment & political opposition should continue, but let’s give credit where due, or rather let’s not be critical (which I myself mostly am)for the sake of it, in these times. I’m talking from experience right now
@chhuti_is
you know that!
No Other state has had to bear the brunt of an 8 phase election (at the whim of... ) macho leaders claiming ‘covid affects only the weak’ & resultant protocol flouting rallies of thousands until only recently.
@paramspeak
Well dda, from the time of first wave bengal was in this Scenario for long, low testing rate, this story is not just for now here in our state low test rate is fact,
@paramspeak
Those who are getting infected whom they got interact in last 2 -3days or those people in their house all should get tested, but that is not happening here for while now,
@paramspeak
It has.Mamata Banerjee is still the CM so you can't abdicate responsibility.She has had time to make the system for 10 yrs.If it doesn't and still has constraints the blame lies at her door.If I don't spare Modi than I don't Mamata either.Both state and centre are responsible.

@srijitspeaketh
Tamil Nadu, Kerala also had elections...they are testing lakhs...Even last year during the first wave, ~50K probably was the highest...
@paramspeak
@srijitspeaketh
Wrong. Mamata Banerjee is still the official CM of the state. Please don’t include politics when you talk about the pandemic and the way the state is battling Covid.
@paramspeak
Who said that ? Pls read your civics book properly !! Just because u are ill educated but famous doesn’t mean u can post shit. Govt is in office till results are out and then in the interim there is void but even then till swearing in govt exists. U need coaching
@paramspeak
Well, when it has a govt it didn't do much better. Also, the CM was busy with rallies. The un-"official" Govt is actually doing better than the official one.
Also, the govt could be compared to Kerala where the CM is addressing the media, monitoring the situation daily!
@paramspeak
@srijitspeaketh
In other states, the testing infrastructure was not built overnight. In Delhi they had a test centre in every street corner built last year only. Even a states like Bihar/UP are testing way more than us.
Let's stop fooling ourselves
