Bengal has a population of around 9 crore. It's testing 55000 at max. The positivity rate is 30%. Compare this with Maharashtra with 2.5 lakh test and Delhi with over 1 lakh test for 2 crore population. The number is staggering.

Every 10 minutes an ambulance is passing by as I stand on my balcony. This virus has hit home hard. Stay safe, Calcutta.

@chhuti_is Your data is wrong madam. In Delhi number of test is below 1 lakh for long time. Data attached here. I have more data if you want. Yes positivity rate in bengal is high but still less than Delhi. But, yes I agree with you, we need more test and more vaccination.

@G16Sudip I am not blaming anyone. I am just saying that we need more testing, more vaccines. Results are taking 3-4 days barring a few centres. Treatment was getting delayed. Yesterday's order of admission without RTPCR was a much needed one.

@chhuti_is Bengaluru with an approx population of 1 core has been testing a lakh each day. Positive cases are obviously high. Higher testing may bring down the positivity rate though the total number of positive cases would be more enabling track & isolate to exercise better control.

@chhuti_is Root Cause : Mostly, private labs are based in Kolkata or city based areas. Kolkata has population 1.5 crore and rest of West Bengal has 7.5 crore.
