On New Year’s Eve, I caught my fiancé cheating on me at a party. I ended up experiencing suicidal thoughts in the middle of London. While I was crying in a park, a kind man brought me to his flat, offered me tea and ultimately saved my life. I don’t know your name, but thank you.
For a while, many people counted
@MariahCarey
out. Now, she's reigning supreme at the top of the
#BillboardHot100
with a song from 1994. And she's done it three years in a row. 👑
I always doubt my writing, so this comment from an editor brought a tear to my eye.
Receiving it today was very timely as I’ve spent the past two days in bed with crippling anxiety and depression.

For a national newspaper, I'm writing a piece about the challenges facing children with autism in the UK’s education system today. I'd like to speak to a range of experts.

@MariahCarey
really gave her lambs a whole album of unreleased songs, a memoir, a ton of homemade performances, a Christmas TV special, a soundtrack and so much more in one year. She has helped to save 2020, and that’s a fact.
At noon, I got asked to write a 1200-word feature for The Daily Telegraph by 4pm today. I was hesitant to accept as, deep down, I didn't think it was possible. But with eight minutes to spare, I submitted the piece!
A new book, a new album, a new Christmas TV special...
@MariahCarey
just doesn't stop gifting the Lambily (and, indeed, the world). I'm beyond excited :D
I’m working on two articles for the FT and one for The Guardian. This feels surreal. When teachers told 15yo me that I’d fail in life due to my autism, I was secretly dreaming of a future career writing for big newspapers. It’s taken a lot of hard work, but I proved them wrong.
Fellow freelance writers, do you feel anxious before writing a new article? I’ve been freelancing for nearly nine years and still doubt my work! Any tips on how to get over this?
A few years ago, I was told I’d likely fail my GCSEs and never get anywhere in life due to having autism. Today, I learnt that I’ve passed all of my final semester modules, which means I’ll be graduating with a BA in English. Never let anyone put you down!

I’ve been single for a whole month. And despite the messy breakup and continued stress of cancelling a wedding and sorting the flat out, I‘m coping pretty well. I feel proud of myself!

@MariahCarey
is a trailblazing female artist who has achieved 19 US number ones, the most for any solo musician. She also wrote 18 of them and has sold over 200 million records globally. What an icon!

I am my biggest critic and continue to experience imposter syndrome.
But reflecting on my freelance journalism career in 2022, I actually feel proud of myself.
I had the opportunity to write for lots of great outlets.
Here are some of my favourite articles of 2022:
I’m so excited to be writing my eleventh article for
@FinancialTimes
. This time, I’m covering cybersecurity and national security. Please get in touch if you have expertise in this area!

Mariah has not only achieved her third UK number one, but also the following:
- Her first ever UK Christmas number one
- Her first original song to reach number one in the UK
- Her first UK number one in 20 years
- She’s gone number one with a 26yo song
Mariah Carey may have two diamond albums, 5 Grammys and 200 million record sales, but has she ever had two articles in the FT at the same time? No! 💅

At the start of 2023, I caught my fiancé cheating on me at a New Year’s Eve party. It nearly killed me while damaging my self-esteem.
With the support of my family and friends, I pulled through. Going into 2024, I feel much happier and confident.
Here’s me in Jan and me now.
I still can't quite believe I'm writing my sixteenth Financial Times article. I sound like a broken record, but if you told teenage Nic Fearn that he'd be writing for the FT in a decade, he'd say F off lol.
I'm writing several

articles about major tech trends impacting Business Model Transformation, Process Transformation, Domain Transformation, and Culture/Organization Digital Transformation. Please get in touch if you have expertise in these areas.

When I was a young teen and experiencing adversity in school, my dream was to become a technology journalist. Every day, I’d write and read iconic tech blogs like

Today, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been promoted to the full-time Features Editor at XDA.
I’m writing two Business Insider articles - one about AI’s role in cyber security and one on how AI can help protect the ocean. Please get in touch if you have expertise in these areas.
