Christian nationalism is strongly associated with greater fear of a day when "whites are no longer the majority" in the US. Replacement theory is not fringe. Opposing it requires reckoning with the historical (and ongoing) influence of Christian nationalism.

Job Talk: Use some sort of visuals, and MAKE SURE THEY ARE SPOTLESS & PERFECT. Consistent headings, font size, use of figures/graphs, pictures. Nothing is more annoying than inconsistency in visuals. No long paragraphs of text! No huge tables filled w/ coefficients!

Personally, instead of trying to see God as "in control" of all this, I try to remind myself that God is *present* with me in the midst of the pain. This can be hard, too. But it keeps me from attributing to God that which should not be.

This back-and-forth *perfectly* illustrates how the "Christian" of Christian nationalism is a very particular expression of Christianity that brings with it a host of cultural assumptions which are mostly invisible to those embracing it. It's just, "Christianity."

And it seems as though there is a fear that acknowledging suffering is an affront to God. That we’re always and only called to “joy” and “peace” and if we share we aren’t currently experiencing these (or are having trouble practicing either) we’re somehow questioning God.

It's in those moments of another's pain & suffering Christians can usually do the most good by shelving our own deep theological insights--or trying to convert those in pain to our particular viewpoint--and just hurt with them. Validate their pain & you validate their humanity.

In the moment it just minimizes a person's real pain and suffering. It’s a form of bright siding, that “no matter what you’re feeling through this experience, you should implicitly acknowledge there must be a reason behind it.”
