The Mariners came into this season with clear needs at:
2B
RF
DH
60 games in here is how that is going
2B: 70 wRC+ (13th in AL)
RF: 92 wRC+ (9th)
DH: 55 wRC+ (14th)
One of the worst offseasons in club history thus far! Congrats to all involved.

Yet, they have a better record right now than they did last year after 59 games and they were still two weeks out of the 14-game win streak. And they have the same record as the 2021 team who took a few weeks to find their groove too. I know it looks bleak, but I have faith.
@nathan_h_b
What makes this worse is the absolute black hole that is free agency players this coming off season. They knew they had to do something before this season and didn't do it.
@nathan_h_b
The Teoscar move still is a good move. Just hasn’t planned out. The Wong move I felt was a gamble, and we lost.
DH we clearly didn’t know what we were doing, for CHEAP we could have easily resigned Carlos Santana or brought back a fan favorite Boomstick
@MikeRiefflin
Yep I agree with all of this. Teoscar falling flat so far isn't the end of the world (good process/bad result happens) it's that he was the ONE goodish move you made.
@nathan_h_b
As we've chronicled before, I'm a believer in JDs plan & accept that it was reasonable to expect Teo & Wong to not be terrible but this is a results biz & by all metrics the offseason & season have been an abject failure.
Congrats to you & your constituents on being correct.
@nathan_h_b
Might be a hot take but it’s short sighted to compare this years record against last years. We shouldn’t be looking at improvement YoY imo, but instead how we improved against other teams in our league/div. You don’t make the playoffs by being better than the prior year, you make…
@nathan_h_b
In their defense, and Jesus that felt gross to type, the Wong and Teo moves looked good and just didn't pan out. Shit happens.
But everyone in the universe could see what was about to unfold at DH.
