Can’t stop looking at my mom and how she’s getting older and the white tufts around her hair, I remember how she struggled and cried for us specially after my father death. No one can imagine the pain she been through to rise 6 kids without father away from her country and family

I just hate the way Somalis compete with each other. For example here in Istanbul Somalis will try copy your business model and open an office next to you, while keeping their eyes on you for any future steps to do the same, without even putting any efforts to bring new ideas.

On our way back to Laascanood, we passed by a small village where my late grandmother from my father side built this traditional Somali house by herself in the late 40’s. She lived between this town, Burco, Caynaabo, Buhudle and Laascanood till she moved to Mogadishu in late 70’s

My grandmother from my mom side, doesn’t want to live in Buhuudle or Laascanood instead she prefer living in the Miyie, and she doesn’t want to travel abroad for medical checkups and treatments. Now I’m heading to Hawd hoping to convince her.

@ashoaib053 @arblauvelt I think so, and that explains the expansion of nursing homes culture over there, because they be dropping their parents there. But to be fair you need to exclude Italy, Greece and Eastern Europe, family values still exists over there, it is more western culture.

This reminded when I have been asked by a Rwandan friend whether am from Somalia or Somaliland. I laughed and I told him actually it’s complicated, geographically am from Somaliland but politically..then he Interrupted me and said that’s mean you either Dhulbahante or Warsangali!

@Qamarxaji11 The concept of how they started the business is wrong. If you see one or two Somali succeed in a something, this should motivate you to do something that you have passion about, not to chase that person who motivated you and open a branch right next to wherever he/she goes.

In Saudi Arabia we used to compete to pay the bills, till I moved to another countries then I realized that I’m the only one who’s competing and they’re fine with it. However I’m still facing difficulties to deal with this splitting bills culture, it’s awkward and weird for me.
