If you are carrying Narcan then you need to be mentally prepared not just to use it but to use it in the face of pushback. A normal side effect of getting Narcan is feeling like you don't need another dose and maybe didn't need it to start with. This is because it worked.

5. The crowd up front should be in communication with the crowd in the back. If the front gets ahead, the front should not start moving until the back has not just caught up but had at least a minute break. Especially if we're doing hills. The elders at the rear need a minute.

@Mike_Selick If you dose someone and they say I don't need another dose you better stay put and stay with the patient because narcan wears off before most optiates. In another couple minutes you should be prepared to reassess and when they meet the criteria for another dose you do it.

Your narcan training should cover what to do after the dose - win, lose, or draw, the situation doesn't end when administration happens or ems arrives. a post-admin plan and training for it is good trauma stewardship and trainings without that are setting ppl up for harm.

A more robust meal can cost closer to three bucks a person, we regularly serve large pieces of meat and lunch/dinner sides and sweets for that. And that's if you're paying retail, which hopefully you aren't if you're running this program. $1200-$3600 to feed 100 3x a week.

Yesterday I gave aid to a young barista at a coffee shop who had been terribly burned. His boss, who runs a whole coffee shop, gave employees a first aid kit that consists primarily of bandaids, with no burn treatment gear. Is this illegal? Yes ofc. But the boss doesn't care.

They're out here chasing us down with pigs in the rain on Easter Sundays. They're sending the park rangers to service to take our tags. They're pulling down the gazebo where our neighbors stay dry, they're fencing off our service area and giving it to dogs for a park instead.

When I tell you that the pantry restock that we do on Fridays is critical, please understand I mean that by the time I had finished stocking it there were people queuing up in line to take the trash from us to the dumpster and shop the pantry. People desperately need this food.
