Their chemistry was on-point throughout the entire film. Say what you want about
#TheLittleMermaid
’s remake, but Ariel & Eric’s relationship is unquestionably more flushed out than in the original. One of those undeniable improvements only nostalgia-blinded viewers won’t admit.
After seeing both
#GodzillaMinusOne
and
#GodzillaXKong
, I have no doubt in my mind that there IS a place for both type of movies in our world. It's a good time to be a Godzilla/Kong fan.
#TopGunMaverick
is EXHILARATING as hell. An all-timer concerning its aerial action sequences, the third act is absolutely INSANE! One of Tom Cruise’s best performances. Surprisingly emotional, surpasses the original in every way. What a memorable score also. See it in THEATERS!
Just finished HIS DARK MATERIALS. One of the most underrated fantasy shows I've ever seen. S3 is the best one: forward storytelling, extraordinary build-up to a visually EPIC final battle & a bittersweet, emotional ending. Dafne Keen, James McAvoy & Ruth Wilson: WOW!
THE KILLER is the simplest film of David Fincher’s career for better *and* for worse. A technically immersive, tension-driven experience lacking emotional layers related to nameless, superficial characters & underdeveloped world. Disappointingly satisfied.
#TheKiller
#Venezia80
HIT MAN left me floored! One of the best comedies of the year in a magical case in which flawless direction, a sharp, *hilarious* screenplay & a chemistry-charged cast combine so well together that one must applaud. Career-best displays from Powell & Arjona.
#HitMan
#Venezia80
PIXAR'S ELEMENTAL may be straightforward, but it's so thematically rich & features characters so relatably compelling that I was fighting the tears by the end of it. A visually stunning inter-element love story mixed with a nice journey of self-discovery. I LOVED IT!
#Elemental
I've lost count of the "modern masterpieces" takes in the past few years. Critics are going crazier each year with their "HERE'S A GREAT PULL QUOTE" reactions. We've had, what, 20 masterpieces in the last three years or so?
Alex Garland’s ‘CIVIL WAR’ is being described as a true modern masterpiece.
“A riveting, unflinching, visceral cautionary tale that’s scary as hell.”

I wonder if toxic fans will realize
#Scream
is making fun of them. Like, would a toxic fan recognize his own behavior on the big screen? Or would they be completely oblivious to how they are? Do toxic fans know they’re being toxic?

Zendaya beautifully represents the resilience that characterizes Chani & the Fremen in DUNE: PART TWO. Her relationship with Paul anchors his humanity, but also captures the struggle with faith-driven prophecies. A multifaceted performance that left me speechless.
#DunePartTwo
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT is one of the best films of 2022! An emotionally powerful anti-war epic depicting the BRUTALITY, mercilessness of WWI through the sensitive eyes of a German soldier. Some of the most JAW-DROPPING cinematography I’ve seen in years. 2h27 that flew by!
@KenKRK
This is Twitter. Am I not allowed to commentate on stuff? It bothers me simply by the fact that many people I know would LOVE to have his kind of access & would actually be fair, interested journalists. Not someone unprofessional & disrespectful as he apparently is.
If you’re a film critic, you must follow a few principles. One of which, in my opinion, should be to not repeatedly tell your audience how much you disliked a movie, especially if the studio was kind enough to send you a screener or invite you to an in-person event.

A freaking star.
@MelchiorDaniela
deserves all the praise in the world for what she’s accomplished in the last couple of years. Proud to have Portugal represented by such a talented actress.
7 years ago I started a little film blog with no real objectives besides writing about cinema. Now, despite not having individual approval yet, I get to proudly become the first-ever Portuguese critic on

It’s just so incredible.
#StanleyKubrick
is a God of filmmaking, and
#JackNicholson
is a beast actor.
40 years later, it’s still one of the greatest horror films to date. And I’m still not settled on a theory about the final photo 😅
GRAN TURISMO left me STUNNED! Going in blind made this inspirational true story even more engaging, fast-paced & incredibly riveting. Score is packed w/ adrenaline-fueled tracks. David Harbour is a GEM! One of my favorite theater experiences of 2023
#GranTurismo

KNOCK AT THE CABIN marks M. Night Shyamalan's triumphant comeback with possibly his best film since SIGNS! Single-location filmmaking at its very best: gripping storytelling & an insanely tense atmosphere. Career-best performance from Dave Bautista. A CULT CLASSIC in the making!
THE WOMAN KING shares an immensely captivating, culturally significant story about BADASS female warriors fighting to protect their own. Viola Davis shines but Thuso Mbedu gives one of the best debut performances I’ve EVER seen. Brutal action. Chemistry-filled character dynamics.
7th film of

Seated for MAESTRO.
I made a mental note this could be the festival dud, but I’d love to be surprised. Going in definitely interested in what Bradley Cooper has to offer. Also, finally seated next to someone famous in one of these press screenings 😅
A HAUNTING IN VENICE is, by some margin, the best adaptation of the now trilogy, correcting many past mistakes & utilizing Kenneth Branagh's innate talent as both filmmaker and actor to stand out as a darker, eerie, more atmospheric film. Really enjoyed it!
#AHauntingInVenice
THE WHALE slowly yet efficiently builds up to an overwhelmingly emotional ending, insanely elevated by a career-best performance from Brendan Fraser. A sad, inspirational, HONEST story about trauma, self-acceptance & positivity. I didn’t know I could cry sideways.
#LFF2022
War journalism is not about picking sides. It’s about giving US the resources to ask questions. Criticizing
#CivilWarMovie
for being neutral is completely, entirely, wholly missing *the* point of the film.
But oh well. Reaction & review to come later.
If you don't consider
#HarishPatel
's Karun as one of the best characters in
#Eternals
, then something is wrong with you. Karun represents the very best in humanity. Humble. Honest. Loyal. Hardworking. Kingo's voice of reason.
Genuine performance and character.
#FilmTwitter
EXCEPTIONAL writing across the board helps the viewers familiarize themselves completely with every single character and storyline. Tough to choose standouts besides Galadriel, but Harfoots and the Dwarfs are BRILLIANTLY portrayed. There's SO MUCH TO LOVE in
#TheRingsOfPower
!
Wanna hear an *extremely* hot take?
GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE is better than the 1984 original in almost every single aspect. From the inevitable audiovisual enhancements to the better humor, characters & cast (!), only nostalgia can ‘blind’ this overall improvement.
Not sorry!
WONKA offers a fresh perspective on the iconic character while paying homage to the timeless Roald Dahl's tale of morality. A charmingly entertaining take on the origins of Willy Wonka with a fearlessly committed cast, tons of humor & colorful, immersive production design.
#Wonka
Not gonna lie, this sort of thing gets me down. It really does. I know so many people who work their asses off to try & get the level of access guys like this have. Today, it’s easy to do so: you just have to fake it, give 10/10 to everything you watch from a studio & that’s it.
ALL OF US STRANGERS: to say it’s overwhelmingly emotional or brutally devastating is an understatement. Memorable, impactful dialogue surrounding trauma & grief delivered in tear-inducing fashion by an absolutely brilliant cast. A few issues, but… damn!
#AllOfUsStrangers
Look, if you love a film, great. I'm truly glad for you. But I will always wonder if that love is genuine or merely engagement-driven if you have 20+ 5-star ratings in a single year. I'm either really, really tough as a critic or some people are way too easily impressed. Or both.
CHEVALIER impressed me. The MUSIC is incredibly cathartic & tells so much about the characters, also ending the film in epic fashion. Cast is phenomenal, as Kelvin Harrison Jr. offers one of the best performances of 2023. Costume design & makeup are award-worthy.
#ChevalierMovie
@KenKRK
Jealousy? No. It’s the fact that he doesn’t use that access for something other than clicks & views. He represents everything that’s wrong with the so-called “fan criticism”. Someone who reacts accordingly to what gives him the best reputation & more access & gifts.
THE HOLDOVERS completely floored me. A *shockingly* faultless script increasingly, powerfully hits at my heartstrings in this truly profound, bittersweet study about the vital need for human connection. I don’t care, I’ll say it: an instantaneous Christmas classic.
#TheHoldovers
FERRARI has the potential to be a memorable biopic but lacks a more thoughtful emotional focus in its performance-driven character study. Adam Driver is excellent, but Penélope Cruz stands out with an emotionally devastating performance. Competently shot.
#FerrariMovie
#Venezia80
JUNG_E is NOT what I expected. Yeon Sang-ho focuses on a surprisingly grounded story about what it truly means to be human with a moving mother-daughter relationship at its core. Stunt work & score are incredible, but VFX look a bit iffy. Not without its narrative issues...
WOMEN TALKING is beautifully scored by Hildur Guðnadóttir & features MESMERIZING performances - Foy being a powerful standout. Sarah Polley's exceptionally written & choreographed screenplay thematically enriches the layered, character-driven debate. AwardS-worthy.
#LFF2022
BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER may not reach the heights of its predecessor, but it beautifully & silently honors Chadwick Boseman’s legacy by telling an emotionally resonant, impactful story about how GRIEF can truly be LOVE PERSEVERING. Totally worth investing. Tear-inducing.
Many films age quite well, but
#JurassicPark
(1993) undoubtedly holds up better than most. From its memorable score to the still impressive animatronics, without forgetting its iconic characters, Steven Spielberg truly is a magnificent filmmaker. Remains as suspenseful as ever.
GODZILLA MINUS ONE hits an outstanding balance between compelling character building, thematically rich narrative & two hours of gargantuan entertainment. Pristine VFX & a powerful score. Truly jaw-dropping atomic breath scenes. What else can anyone ask for?!
#GodzillaMinusOne
Incredibly how so many months after watching it for the first time,
#EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce
still manages to leave me crying by the end. The themes hit strongly every time I rewatch it. The rock scene remains phenomenal. I just couldn't be happier for its success.
RYE LANE packs more authenticity & genuine emotion into its incredibly engaging, witty, entertaining 82 minutes than many rom-coms with twice the runtime. A perfect example of how a story should take as long as it needs to & nothing more. Vivian Oparah & David Jonsson are 🔥
JOURNEY TO THE DARK HEAD (Studio Mir) focuses on the balance of the Force & the links between Jedi & Sith. The lightsaber duel is entertaining & truly amazing to look at. Protagonists go through intriguing arcs, ultimately making this a pretty solid chapter!
#StarWarsVisions
THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN takes a darker path than expected - tonal shift threw me off balance - but Martin McDonagh delivers a truly HILARIOUS yet BRUTAL story about friendship & the importance of some alone time. Farrell & Gleeson are simply brilliant. GORGEOUSLY shot.
#LFF2022
I'm incredibly proud to join such a renowned critics association filled with so many members who I respect & admire so much - some I can even call friends. To be in the same group as some of my inspirations is quite surreal. Hope I can join you all at a future Astra Awards show!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t people *love* Shang-Chi, No Way Home, Wakanda Forever & Guardians 3? And also really enjoyed Black Widow and even MoM?
It’s as if the MCU only released *terrible* films since Endgame. Damn, some of these I constantly see on people’s Top5 🤷♂️
