So, at last, there is some clarity:
#Carlsen
's opinion and feeling is that
#Niemann
is a bad guy and, after trying twice, Magnus decided to never play in the same tournament with Hans anymore.
It's OK more or less. E.g. as I hope NOBODY can be forced to play v Karjakin or Shipov.
@ghotiing
Unfair to whom? Niemann confessed his past cheating after all, why can Carlsen be obliged to play in the same private tournaments with him?! Private means private. Projects like
@ACP_Chess
mainly failed, so we don't have a universal ethics code in pro chess; FIDE is a (bad) joke.
@mikhail_golubev
With respect, your argument overlooks the point that Magnus's "preference" puts TDs in a tough place wrt Niemann. In fact, most might drop Hans because of Magnus's influence. So, the WC's preference has adverse real word effects, and isn't as benign as you imply. Thanks!
@stulterer
In the chess organisation it's just a common thing that a particular player refuses to play a tournament if another particular player is in; the difference is that now Carlsen is doing this publicly. Well, Niemann can try to sue him for the possible damages, it's their problems.
@mikhail_golubev
Well, bad comparison. There is undeniable proof of what Karjakin thinks (he is proud of it anyway). There is no proof about Niemann. Accusation without evidence is not OK, not more, and not less.
@miketsia1
Some other Russian GMs "think"/express no less aggressive ideas than Karjakin and they were not banned even temporarily. As of now, anyone's decision not to play against Karjakin will be based on a personal opinion/opinions. De jure he has the same rights as all other players.
