For those who didn't make it: Civil services is a great career but NOT the only option. I know judges,CEOs of companies, others who are very succesful and contributing to society but didn't clear CSE even after many attempts. Stay positive and find your calling.

The murder of Late Shri G Krishniah IAS is one of the early tragic memories of my life. My father was posted in a nearby district and I remember how parents struggled to break the news gently to us as they prepared to rush to his house to be with his family…(1/4)
Indian Pitta, the star summer visitor to DelhiNCR. Name is based on Telugu word for a small bird 'Pitta'. There are now 44 species of Pitta found across the globe. How did a Telugu word find its way around? It is an interesting story of colonial history and science...

That beautiful morning when we spotted a whole flock of Long-tailed Broadbills in the forests around Itanagar, Arunachal. Was clicking some fantails and sunbirds when the high pitched whistling calls from across the hills caught our attention. Birding in NE is special!

Wallcreeper is a stunning bird found on high-altitude, rocky, steep mountain faces. In winter, they come to lower altitude earthy mountain faces, flicking their wings to reveal a beautiful pattern. Clicked near Itanagar, Arunachal. More such birds in ‘100 Birds Around Itanagar’.

Spotted a Cuckoo (probably the Indian Cuckoo?) at home today! Hadn't seen this species in the backyard earlier. Some maps indicate they are in this part of the country for breeding season.
It’s been raining almost continuously for last 2 days in Itanagar. Got this shot of a Tailorbird (Common or Dark-necked?) this evening. Tiny birds that are always jumping around. Given away by their loud calls. Get their name from how they stitch the leaves together for nests.
Let me introduce you to the Codd bottle (named after the inventor Harim Codd) which holds carbonation in the bottle using a marble that rests against a rubber washer. There is a drink called ‘Goli soda’ which uses the bottle! Definitely more popular in south India than the north!
