#StormEunice looks absolutely brutal on Friday, a very dangerous, damaging storm. These type of wind gusts across S Britain are very rare. Flying debris and falling trees will be a huge problem. Here are the peak gusts on the latest ECMWF model.

Amazing scenes at 250m altitude in the Chilterns just now, as freezing #fog has covered trees in rime ice, which is subsequently crashing down out of the trees as the sun breaks through the fog. Two of MetDesk's forecasters have braved the ice-falls today!

There are some frightening model projections for next weekend, with suggestions of not only beating the UK high temperature record of 38.7C, but smashing it. It's all down to the track of a "superplume" of hot air moving north towards the UK, but it's far from certain just now

#StormEunice already ominous and foreboding, explosively developing to the west of us right now. Let's keep the inevitable bad news to a minimum tomorrow - stay at home! Thousands of trees will come down across England & Wales and flying debris will be thoroughly dangerous.
