βCOYOTE VS ACMEβ is now expected to be shelved and deleted forever.
Warner Bros wanted $75M - $80M for the film and rejected offers from Netflix, Amazon & Paramount, refusing to let them counter-offer.

Been seeing this make the rounds - I agree 100% and just want to add:
If children's media is too sanitized - if there's not an ounce of sad/scary/dark/anger/etc - kids will seek it out somewhere else. You might not like where they find it.
Hot take (I may be wrong):
I feel one of the reasons children are becoming more cruel and mean nowadays is that these kind of scenes arent done much anymore
Heartbreaking scenes make kids realize ppl get hurt, and that hurt isnt fun
Heartbreaking scenes make kids empathetic
Thanks to the Oscars and AMPAS for belittling the hard work of animators who kept your entire industry financially solvent when COVID shut down every live action set π₯°π

A lot of people have asked me how I find "prettier" art reference on , as sometimes the randomizer will just keep giving you blurry roadsides. Thread below for some tips and a guide on how I use mapcrunch! v v v

Hi all, I'm a character designer at Cartoon Network - working until 2022 but I'd love to do development designs for your series or movie πβ¨

All 3 of my

prompters "we're coming for your jobs!!" bro why would you even want our jobs...we're underpaid unappreciated wasting away in dark office cubes, we all have tendonitis & anxiety, spend half the year unemployed and filing taxes with 17 1099s is like solving the sphinx's riddles

thanks to everyone who's helping me learn how to use SBP better! I usually board in photoshop so this was fun to get more used to. (π if you want to hear my embarrassing scratch lolol)
ππ Can I just say...
fans of any series, plz do not continually ask crew members if the show got renewed, what are they working on, their job status, etc.
Not only are you asking NDA-breaking Qs that could get them in trouble, it's also an invasion of privacy imho, kinda rude
First 2 eps of Velma are out today π I need to dig through my mountain of files to share some designs, but for now have this one drawing.
I know people have opinions on the show haha, but as a designer it was fun to do a lot of really pushed and rendered special poses.
S&P ("Standards and Practices") will make your life a living hell if you work on pre-school shows. Everyone's gotta wear seatbelts, helmets, elbow & knee pads nearly at all times, no one can ever get hurt, characters have to say "I'm okay!" if they fall, everything is "imitable"
I called my (normie, red state, christian) mom to tell her about the strike, she said she'd already seen this clip & thought he was 100% right. Said Fran's speech was powerful.
SAG being so public-facing is an opportunity to wake Americans up to the reality of our corporatocracy
Beyond just slighting the medium, it's weird that the implication of "animation is for kids" is also that you need to slap a PG-13 or R label onto a movie for it to be "real art for grownups"
Like a movie isn't β¨cinemaβ¨ if it doesn't have a sex scene, or no one gets shot?
πit's happening...!!π
after spending 2yrs honing my boards & hoping to make the jump from design, some days I thought I might not make it...but so SO happy to announce I'm a Story Apprentice at Netflix Feature Animation, as a part of their Early Creatives Program!!
Huh, if a company's unwillingness to compensate their workers ends up causing a strike, isn't that the free market working as intended? Why do we need big government to intervene? π€

Hearing other artist's stories about being reprimanded for taking any personal time...remembering the time a producer harassed and threatened to write me up for taking time off for JURY DUTY.
Gosh, if animation is just frivolous nonsense for kids, then maybe next time there's a deadly pandemic, we'll stop working too! How would you all like that?
Injecting some serotonin into the tl for us all tonight π₯
Also to the AD who felt ashamed of not quitting, I'm so glad you didn't. Your actions got real artists their jobs back.

Why is he holding the ice cream like it's a microphone I'm so weirded out by that lol. Nevermind this POS could have called for ceasefire 140 something days ago
I've worked in animation for 5+ years and finally came to this conclusion: literally just use Canva.
I'm not a graphic designer. Good type/print design is a god-tier skill that I do not understand. It also has absolutely nothing to do with the position you're hiring me for.
Storyboard artists are writers, cinematographers, directors, editors - the most important and hardest part of the job is finding your own unique visual voice and style. A crowd-sourced plagiarism machine simply cannot have any voice other than mimicry.
The quote doesn't surprise me, but it's still an incredibly dim view of what artists do. To see the visual side as interchangeable mush to slather under your precious verbal jokes is to not at all comprehend the strengths or potential of the medium you work in.
they are laying off US artists w/o notice while simultaneously underbidding and forcing Japanese studios to work for less.
Anime fans who normally don't watch US cartoons - y'all should still show up for

, so cute and the animation looks amazing!! Way waaaay back in the before-times, I was asked to do some quick & messy character sketches when the show was still really early in development. We were playing with style and personality!
